PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Duquesne (9-13, 4-7) lost a 79-44 Atlantic 10 contest at No. 20 Temple (17-5, 8-2) Sunday afternoon. Junior Carmen Bruce led the Dukes with 10 points and junior Loui Hall led the team with five rebounds. The Owls were led by Khadija Bowens and Kamesha Hairston with 16 points each while Candice Dupree added 13 markers.

The Owls opened the game with a 15-0 run as the Dukes suffered from the field going 0-5 and committing nine turnovers. Duquesne would not get on the board until 10:30 when Brittany Warren went two-for-two from the line, but the Dukes trailed 2-21. Loui Hall scored the Dukes' first field goal hitting a three-pointer at 8:38 for a 5-27 deficit. Temple held a commanding 45-12 lead at the break as they could not overcome the Owl's speed and full-court play. The Dukes suffered 20 first half turnovers which resulted in 28 Temple points. DU shot .222 (4-18) from the field to Temple's (.615) 16-26. Duquesne did hold a 16-10 rebounding advantage in the frame.

Temple opened the second stanza on a 6-0 run for a 51-12 lead before Aiga Bautre hit back-to-back three pointers, but the Dukes still trailed 18-51. Hall's jumper got the Dukes to the 20-point mark, but the Red & Blue would still trail 26-66 midway through the second period. DU out-scored the Owls 18-13 to end the game, but still fell 79-44.

Duquesne held a 34-33 rebounding edge, which included 14 offensive boards, but committed 29 turnovers to the Owls' 18. Duquesne shot just .315 (17-54) from the field, but was .714 (5-7) from the line. Temple went 25-49 (.510) from the field and was 24-34 (.706) from the line. Temple recorded 11 blocks in the contest.

Duquesne returns to action this Friday hosting George Washington at 7:05 pm at the Palumbo Center.
