The Duquesne Dukes (9-12, 4-6) women's basketball team captured a 53-48 Atlantic 10 win over host St. Bonaventure (8-12, 2-7) Friday afternoon at the Reilly Center led by Loui Hall's 12 points. Carmen Bruce and Kristi Little grabbed five steals each to lead the game while Nicole Sinclair grabbed five of the Dukes' 29 rebounds. It was a slow start for both sides of the court as DU held a 4-0 lead at the 18:08 mark and St. Bonaventure didn't hit its first field goal until 15:13 which started a 6-0 run. The Dukes went 4:30 without a basket before Carmen Bruce tied the game at 8-8 at 13:38. The teams would trade baskets for most of the stanza until Maria Stankevich and Jocelyn Chandler hit a bucket each for a 15-12 edge at 6:52. Bautre's three pointer at 5:44 gave the Red & Blue an 18-14 edge, but the Bonnies tied the contest at 18-18 with 2:41 ticking. Two costly SBU turnovers in the final minutes allowed the Dukes to take a 22-18 edge, but SBU's Murray hit a three to put the Brown & White within a 21-22 reach with :14 ticking. Loui Hall's lay-up from Kristi Little's feed at :02 gave the Dukes a 24-21 lead at the break. The Bonnies held a 21-11 rebounding edge in the first frame and committed 13 turnovers to the Dukes' 11.

The second half saw the same slow start as the Dukes' goal by Hall at 19:10 put the only points on the board until the 14:52 mark when Hall scored again. St. Bonaventure didn't get on the board until Ashley Edwards hit two free throws at 14:41 to get within a 25-28 reach of the Dukes. Bautre's three started a 5-0 run for DU, which took a 33-25 lead at 11:34. The host Bonnies went on a 7-1 run to get within a 32-34 reach at 9:13. The Dukes went 6-6 from the line, led by Little's 4-4 effort, in a 6-2 drive that gave DU a 42-36 lead at 5:33. SBU got within a two-point reach twice with the last being a 44-46 reach at 2:44. Bruce's jumper at 2:13 upped the Dukes edge to a 48-44 advantage before the Bonnies tied the score at 48-48 (:54) after hitting the first of the one-one bonus and snagging a three pointer from the offensive rebound on the miss. Little launched a three with :29 ticking for a 51-48 edge and the Bonnies saw several game-tying opportunities fail in the final seconds as Bruce sealed the win hitting both free throws in the bonus for the 53-48 final.

The Dukes were out-rebounded 29-39, but out-shot the Bonnies .385 (20-52) to .360 (18-50). Duquesne had 13 steals in the contest. SBU had 23 turnovers to the Dukes' 16 for the game.
