Keri Pryor Hits Career High 18 Points in Loss

MOON TWP., PA - Duquesne suffered a 66-59 loss at cross town rival Robert Morris Tuesday night at the Sewall Center. Freshman Keri Pryor led the Dukes (3-3) and tied the game lead with a career-best 18 points followed by 14-point efforts from seniors Carmen Bruce and Loui Hall. Hall posted a double-double for the Dukes grabbing 10 rebounds as well. Pryor was second with 10 boards and junior Jocelyn Chandler had three steals.

Robert Morris (3-2) was led by Chanata Nesbit with 18 points and 15 rebounds while Sugeiry Monsac added 14 points, 13 boards and six steals.

Robert Morris opened the game on a 10-0 run before Keri Pryor put the Dukes on the board at 17:30 and Jocelyn Chandler's three pointer got the Dukes to a 10-5 reach at 16:04. Goals by Pryor and Bruce put the DU within a 12-9 reach and they would stay within two possessions until back to back Robert Morris treys and a made free throw gave the Colonials a 23-13 edge at 10:41. Hall hit a 5-0 run on a traditional three-point play and basket for a 23-18 reach at 7:25, but Robert Morris would lead by at least seven points and end the half on a 10-2 run for a 39-24 lead at the break.

Duquesne shot just .300 (9-30) for the first half, which included a 1-8 (.125) effort from the three. Robert Morris hit 15-5 (.429) from the field and was 5-12 (.417) from behind the arc. RMU held a 27-20 rebounding advantage in the first frame.

The second frame saw the Dukes open with a 5-0 run for a 41-31 reach, but the Colonials used an 8-2 spree to take a 49-33 margin at 12:35 - the largest lead of the game. Pryor sparked a 9-0 Duquesne run to get within a 49-42 grasp at 10:26. RMU used a 9-4 run to up its lead to 60-48 as 5:50 remained. Bruce sparked a 6-0 DU run on a make and miss free throw for a 60-54 reach and put Duquesne within six-points again on a main basket at 1:23, but Robert Morris would go on to take a 66-59 win.

Duquesne was out-rebounded 47-37 for the game and out-shot .377 (23-61) to .404 (23-57). Both teams played some sloppy ball committing 22 team turnovers each.

The Dukes return to action Dec. 1 and 2 and at Cornell Classic. Duquesne faces Radford at 7:00 pm Friday and then will play either host Cornell or Morgan State Saturday.

Game Notes: Keri Pryor's 18 points is a career-high ... Loui Hall posts her second double-doubles of the season ... the Dukes' continue on the road Friday and Saturday giving them three road games in a five-day span this week.
