Red and Blue Fall to Flyers, 67-55

Friday the 13th could not bring the Duquesne women's basketball team luck as they fell to the visiting Dayton Flyers 67-55 Friday night at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

The Dukes were led by forward Loui Hall (Masontown, Pa./Albert Gallatin) who posted the first double-double of the season by scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Guards Jocelyn Chandler (Uniontown, Pa/Uniontown) and Aiga Bautre (Riga, Latvia/Catholic Central, N.Y.) also chipped in with 12 points each. For the game, Duquesne made only 18 of 53 shots (.345) and was out rebounded by Dayton 38-28.

After an evenly matched first half, Dayton opened the second half with a 10-1 run, one in which the Dukes could not recover. Dayton was led by center Cara Wright, who posted 20 points, including 10-12 from the free throw line, and seven rebounds. The Flyers made more free throws than the Dukes attempted (14), hitting 82 percent as a team (23-for-28).

Duquesne is back in action Sunday when they go on the road to face St. Louis Billikins. Game time is set for 3 p.m.

Game notes: Freshman guard Kristi Little scored her first career points on a 3-pointer with 11:15 remaining in the second half and posted a career high in minutes played with 11.
