Duquesne University soccer player Matt Mehler (North Versailles, PA/East Allegheny) has signed a professional contract to play for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds this spring. A four-year defensive starter for the Dukes, Mehler is third on the University's all-time assist list with 15. He is one of just five Dukes to play in three Atlantic 10 Championships.
"He is an aggressive player with good vision," head coach Ricci Iribarren said. "We were impressed with his college play and he'll make a nice addition to the Riverhounds."
Assistant coach Dan Hartung, a 2004 Duquesne graduate, has resigned to play with the Riverhounds again this season. Last year he played in 22 of 23 games and tallied three goals and two assists. "I'm happy Dan is coming back and we look forward to him having another great year," said Iribarren.
