Junior Loui Hall (Masontown, Pa./Albert Gallatin) led the game with a season-best 20 points and added eight rebounds as the Duquesne Dukes took a 63-47 non-conference decision over visiting Robert Morris Wednesday night at the A.J. Palumbo Center. Senior Nicole Sinclair grabbed a game-best 11 rebounds in the win and Aiga Bautre connected for 15 points and dished out four assists.
Robert Morris was led by Jenn Burkett with 11 points off the bench.
The Dukes opened play on a 5-0 run and held an 11-4 edge at the 14:23 mark before Robert Morris ran off a 10-2 run to take its first, and only, lead of the game with a 14-13 edge at 10:58. The Colonials went cold for 8:05 as the Red & Blue rattled off a 14-0 run led by Brittany Warren's five points for a 27-14 lead at 3:40 that would never be challenged. The Dukes held a 29-19 lead at the break. Duquesne out-rebounded Robert Morris 28-17 in the first half.
In the second frame, Psyche Butler's put-back at 18:57 cut the deficit to nine points, but the Colonials would trail by double-digits for the remainder of the contest. Hall hit a solo 6-0 run in just under two minutes of play to give the Dukes a 36-21 edge at 16:14 and the Dukes would go on to out-score the Colonials 18-6 for a 48-27 lead with 11:29 ticking. RMU's closest reach afterward was a 33-50 deficit with 8:59 ticking. The Dukes snapped a two-game losing skid with its 63-47 win.
Duquesne out-rebounded the Colonials 52-40 for the game and out-shot the visitor .407 (22-54) to .224 (15-67). Robert Morris' 44 points are the fewest allowed by the Dukes this season.
The win puts Duquesne at 4-5 overall while Robert Morris falls to 4-4 on the season. The Dukes close out the year traveling to Western Kentucky Dec. 28 and Ohio Dec. 30.
