The Duquesne University men's soccer team received its highest national ranking in school history as the Dukes are ranked 16th in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in the NSCAA/adidas Top 25 poll and are also first in the NSCAA Middle Atlantic Region rankings. Both rankings are all-time bests in the program's eleven-year history. The Red and Blue are the only Atlantic 10 team in the top 25.
Head Coach Wade Jean's Dukes (8-2-0, 2-0-0 Atlantic 10) are currently on a three-game winning streak, following their weekend victories over Saint Joseph's (2-1) and Temple (1-0).
Senior forward Scott Gibson (Carlin Howe, Redcar (England)/Huntcliff Sec.) leads the Dukes in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points. He is followed by fellow senior Steve Mellor (Langhorne, PA/) with eight points (2g, 4a), junior Tom Sochacki (Pittsburgh, PA/Shady Side Academy) with seven points (2g, 3a) and sophomore Travis MacKenzie (Carnegie, PA/Chartiers Valley) with six points (2g, 2a). Junior goalkeeper Zach Varga (Mountville, PA/Hempfield) is second in the Atlantic 10 with a 0.70 goals against average.
