DU Signs Two Runners for Next Season

Dec. 2, 2004

Ninth year Duquesne University men's cross country coach Jim Lear announced today the signing of two local student-athletes to national letters of intent to run for Duquesne in 2005. Joshua Eddy (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) and Shane Sarver (Freeport, PA/Freeport) will be the newest Dukes.

Eddy was the 2004 WPIAL AAA runner-up after placing sixth as a junior. He was also a medalist at the 2004 PIAA State Championship, placing 16th overall. A four-year letterman, his North Hills team won three straight section titles and back-to-back WPIAL Championships.

Sarver placed fifth at this year's WPIAL AA Championship and finished 13th in the state championship. A two-time state qualifier, his school's track teams were three-time sections champs and two-time WPIAL champions.

The Dukes finished second at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship, the highest finish in school history.
