Red and Blue Climb Three Spots in Region

The Duquesne University men's soccer team (12-6, 8-2 Atlantic 10) jumped from seventh to fourth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's NSCAA/adidas Middle Atlantic Region Rankings dated November 2nd. The Dukes climbed in the rankings after defeating then nationally-ranked Rhode Island, 2-1 in overtime on Friday and Massachusetts, 4-1 on Sunday.

The Dukes have three players tied for the team scoring lead with 11 points in senior Derek MacKenzie (three goals, five assists), junior Andrew Bell (five goals, one assist) and sophomore Noh Salsi (five goals, one assist). Sophomore Zach Varga leads the Dukes in goal with an Atlantic 10 best 0.87 goals against average.

Duquesne, which sits atop the Atlantic 10 standings, can clinch its first ever outright regular season conference championship with a win or tie at St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 pm in the regular season finale. The Dukes have already secured a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship to be held at George Washington, Nov. 11-14.
