The men's soccer team opened the 2003 season with a 4-0 blanking of visiting Buffalo in the first round of the Duquesne Classic.

Sophomore transfer Steve Mellor scored twice in the the first five minutes of action as the Dukes jumped to a 4-0 halftime advantage. Senior Damien Pottinger tallied a goal and an assist while fellow senior Dan Hartung scored his first goal of the season.

In game one, Temple jumped out to a 3-0 first half lead over Cleveland State and held on for a 3-1 decision. Nate Webb, Anthony Donatelli and Kevin Gallagher scored for the Owls while Spencer Lappin found the net for the Vikings.

The Dukes return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 30 as they face Cleveland State at 7:30 pm in the final game of the Classic following the Temple vs. Buffalo match-up at 5:00 pm.
