Nov. 21, 2003

Duquesne University men's soccer senior Jason Kutney (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Borough) was named to the CoSIDA Academic National First Team. It is the second year in a row he has been selected.

Kutney, who was a Second Team National Academic All-American last year, boasts a 3.95 grade point average as an investment management major. A team captain, he had a career-best six points this season on a goal and four assists, leading Duquesne to its first ever Atlantic 10 regular season championship.

To be eligible, an athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. He must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at the institution. Sports information directors nominate eligible athletes from their schools who are named to district teams prior to being voted upon on the national level.
