Duquesne University's men's cross-country squad finished in 12th place (of 39 teams) in Saturday's 28th Annual Paul Short Invitational Run hosted by Lehigh University on the Goodman Campus Cross Country course.
Ryan Bender, a freshman from Indiana (PA) High School, led the Dukes with a run of 25:58:58. That was good for 61st place in the 274 runners race. Sam Shea, a senior from Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh, finished in 63rd place with 26:00:39.
Bender was honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference as the Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week for this performance.
Penn State won the competition and Daniel Wilson, Connecticut, brought in the top result with a 24:19:33 effort.
The Dukes host the Duquesne Invitational next Saturday in Schenley Park.
