Four Players Named to A-10 All-Conference Teams

Four Duquesne University's men's soccer players have been selected to the 2002 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Teams. Junior Damien Pottinger (Scarborough, Ontario / Mother Teresa) was named First Team All-Conference, seniors Terry McNelis (Reading, PA /Exeter Township) and Nathan Salsi (North Huntingdon, PA / Norwin) were chosen Second Team All Conference while freshman Andrew Bell (New Marske, Redcar, England / Huntcliff Secondary) was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team.

In addition, fifth year head coach Wade Jean was tabbed the Atlantic 10 Co-Coach of the Year for the second time in four years.

Pottinger leads the Dukes in scoring this year, setting University records for goals with 16 and points with 38. He has scored in 13 games for the Red and Blue, including the last seven contests. McNelis continues his record-setting collegiate career by leading the Atlantic 10 in goals against average with a 1.12 gaa. He boasts a .793 saves percentage and is the holder of eight of Duquesne's 10 goalkeeping records.

Salsi plays stellar defense for the Dukes and contributes offensively as well. He is fifth on the team in scoring with personal bests of four goals, five assists and 13 points. Bell leads all Duquesne newcomers in scoring this year and is third among all Atlantic 10 newcomers. He is sixth overall for the Dukes with five goals, two assists and 12 points.

The Dukes are currently 12-2-5 on the season and 7-1-3 in Atlantic 10 play and finished the regular season in second place in the Atlantic 10 standings behind Massachusetts. The Dukes will face third-seeded host Richmond on Friday, Nov. 15 at 8:00 pm in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship.
