The Duquesne University men's soccer team climbed to third in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's NSCAA/adidas Middle-Atlantic Regional rankings after going 1-0-1 over the weekend in a pair of Atlantic 10 home games. The Red and Blue defeated Dayton, 3-2 on Friday and tied Xavier, 2-2 on Sunday. This is the highest soccer ranking Duquesne has achieved in the program's nine year history.
Fifth-year coach Wade Jean's squad is now 9-2-5 on the season and 4-1-3 in Atlantic 10 play. The Dukes are currently tied for fourth place in the A-10, having already faced the top three teams in the standings.
The Dukes were led by junior Damien Pottinger (Scarborough, Ontario/Mother Theresa), who tallied two goals and two assists, including the game-winning goal over Dayton. Pottinger leads the Dukes in scoring with school records of 12 goals and 29 points and has four game-winning goals on the season.
The Dukes return to action on Friday, Nov. 1 as they host Fordham ((4-11, 1-7 A-10) at 7:00 p.m. on Rooney Field.
