Despite a 3-2 loss at Rhode Island on Sunday, the Duquesne University men's soccer team remained fourth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's NSCAA/adidas Middle-Atlantic Regional rankings.
Fifth-year coach Wade Jean's squad is now 8-2-4 on the season and 3-1-2 in Atlantic 10 play. The Dukes are currently in fifth place in the Atlantic 10, having already faced the top four teams in the standings.
The Red and Blue went 1-0-1 over the weekend as they tied Massachusetts, 3-3 on Friday in Amherst and lost to Rhode Island, 3-2 on Sunday in Kingston. The Minutemen and Rams are ranked seventh and third respectively in the New England region.
The Dukes were led by junior Damien Pottinger (Scarborough, Ontario/Mother Theresa) who tallied three goals and one assist and senior David Gingrich (Export, PA/Penn-Trafford) who netted two goals. Pottinger leads the Dukes in scoring with school records of 10 goals and 23 points while Gingrich and sophomore Derek Mackenzie (Carnegie, PA/Chartiers Valley) are second with 12 points each.
Duquesne returns to action on Friday, Oct. 25 as it hosts Dayton at 7:00 pm on Rooney Field.
