OFF THE STARTING BLOCK
- The Duquesne University swimming and diving teams return to Towers Pool to celebrate Senior Day. The diving team will kick off the weekend on Friday night, taking on St. Bonaventure at Carnegie Mellon at 7:00 p.m. The swimming team will then face the Bonnies on Saturday inside Towers Pool, with competition beginning at 1:00 p.m.
- The Dukes are coming off a pair of meets this weekend at the Western Pa. Invite and a tri-meet in Morgantown, W.Va. At West Virginia, the Duquesne dropped a pair of dual meets falling to Villanova, 180-120 before dropping a 184-115 to the host Mountaineers.
- In Morgantown, Duquesne still turned in a strong individual showing, collecting 11 medals on the afternoon, highlighted by four first-place finishes. Sophomore
Sierra Snow captured the Dukes' first gold medal of the meet, claiming the 200-yard backstroke with a winning time of 1:56.45. She also posted a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke, recording a personal-best time of 54.18 that met the CSCAA "B" cut standard.
- In the 200-yard breaststroke, Duquesne swept the top two spots as sophomore
Jess Burns touched the wall first with a personal-best time of 2:15.31. Senior
Sydney Severini followed closely behind to earn silver, clocking in at 2:18.30.
- Sophomore
Ashley Freel kept the momentum going for the Dukes, adding a pair of individual medals to her resume. She earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 2:01.28 that also met the CSCAA "B" cut standard, before capturing another silver in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best mark of 54.82.
- Freshman
Lucy Backus recorded a third-place finish in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in a season-best time of 23.60, while sophomore
Kaitlyn Connors also posted a season best at 23.78. Connors added a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:51.70), and Backus placed fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.78.
- Duquesne also earned a pair of bronze medals in the relay events. The 200-yard medley relay team of Snow, Severini, Howard, and freshman
Emily Kyre finished third with a time of 1:43.23. The 400-yard freestyle relay closed out the swimming portion of the meet, with Connors, Backus, Snow, and Freel claiming bronze in 3:24.65.

The Series vs. St. Bonaventure – It'll be the 20
th meeting between the Dukes and Bonnies come Saturday as Duquesne holds an 11-8 edge in the all-time series. The Dukes have won eight straight against St. Bonaventure, including a 162.0 - 100.0 victory in 2024. Four different individuals and the 400-yard medley relay team broke pool records which highlighted the meet this afternoon. The 400-yard medley team of
Haley Scholer,
Sydney Severini,
Julia Sobun, and Kayla Johnson captured the gold and secured the pool record with a time of 3:45.09. Scholer led off the relay by breaking the pool record in the 100-yard backstroke by touching the wall at 54.85. The previous record was held by Audrey Steen, who recorded a time of 55.42. A trio of Dukes earned the top three spots in the 500-yard freestyle, with
Lexi Sundgren earning the pool record with a time of 4:57.25.
Aislinn Mooney finished behind Sundgren to earn the silver (5:02.87) while Gabby Jenkins captured the bronze (5:04.49). Sundgren would add a second and third place finish to her resume as she took home silver in the 100-yard IM (59.29) while capturing bronze in the 100-yard freestyle (51.78). In the 200-yard IM, Duquesne took four of the top five spots, highlighted by
Orla Egan registering a time of 2:04.80 to take first. Severini touched the wall at 2:05.42 to finish in third while Reagan Linkous (2:08.30) and Molly Brennan (2:09.19) ended fourth and fifth. Egan would capture the gold in the 200-yard free by touching the wall at 1:15.41 as Linkous finished third in the 100-yard IM (1:00.50). Scholer continued her dominating performance by capturing the gold in the 100-yard butterfly (55.79). She would follow that up by breaking the pool record in the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.76) which was previously held by Ohio's Laura Dawson (2:00.70).
Senior Sendoff – Before taking on the Bonnies, the Duquesne swimming and diving team will hold a special pre-meet ceremony honoring six seniors. The Dukes will recognize

Off The Boards in Morgantown - The Dukes' diving team was also in action on Saturday, capturing a pair of medals. In the three-meter dive, senior
Ashley Felitsky claimed the top spot with a final score of 266.10 over six dives. Sophomore
Brianne Dempsey finished fourth with a score of 246.20, while freshman
Elly Huron took fifth at 242.60. In the one-meter dive, Dempsey earned bronze with a final score of 249.85, just ahead of Felitsky, who finished fourth at 247.80. Graduate student
Lola Dragosavac rounded out the top seven with a score of 239.45.
Western Pa. Invite Remains - The Dukes accumulated 416 points across eight women's events to finish second in the team standings. Duquesne opened the meet in strong fashion with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as sophomores Sierra Sown,
Kaitlyn Connors,
Rachel Howard, and freshman
