Pittsburgh, Pa. - Duquesne women's tennis continued its fall season with a strong showing at the CMU Invitational over the weekend. The Dukes totaled 16 match wins - earning nine on Friday and seven on Saturday.
FRIDAY RESULTS
Duquesne won five of its six singles matches on the opening day. Juniors
Alexandra O'Brien (6-3, 6-2),
Mila Badics (6-1, 6-4) and
Sofia Serrano (6-2, 6-4) all won their matches.
Sofia Lopez-Linares Perez (2-6,7-5,12-10) and
Jasa Roka (7-5,5-7,10-8) each earned three-set victories over competitors from Carnegie Mellon.
The Dukes added four doubles victories on Friday with the team of Badics and Roka (6-2, 7-6(3)) winning two matches. O'Brien and
Taisia Yakunina combined for a 6-1 win and the duo of Lopez-Linares Perez and Serrano claimed a 6-0 bagel for a win.
SATURDAY RESULTS
The Dukes totaled three singles wins on Saturday with Badics (5-7,6-3,11-9), Lopez Linares-Perez (6-3,1-6,10-4) and O'Brien (6-2,6-1) all claiming their second singles victories of the invitational. The Dukes went unbeaten in singles matches on Saturday.
DU shuffled its doubles pairings for the second day of the invitational en route to a four-victory day. The teams of Roka and Lopez-Linares Perez and Serrano and O'Brien totaled three 6-4 wins, with two coming from Serrano and O'Brien. Badics and Yakunina combined for a 7-5 win.

Jasa Roka (DUQW) def. Manuela Van Cotthem (CMU) 7-5,5-7,10-8.
Mila Badics (DUQW) def. Lea Von Kozierowski (IUP) 5-7,6-3,11-9.
The Dukes are idle next week and will compete at the Atlantic 10 Conference Masters in Davidson. N.C., over the weekend of Oct. 3 through Oct. 5.
