- The Duquesne University men's soccer team continues a three-game homestand Wednesday by returning to non-conference action, hosting Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m. at Rooney Field.
- The Dukes christened their homestand with a
3-1 victory over St. Bonaventure (9/14) in the Atlantic 10 opener for both programs. Thanks to the win, Duquesne improved to 17-9-5 (.629) all-time in conference openers.
- Redshirt junior
Jaxon Ervin gave the Dukes a 1-0 lead at halftime by scoring on a header 15 minutes into the contest, and a pair of goals 44 seconds apart in the second half helped seal the victory.
- Ervin provided a cross to set up the second goal of the game against the Bonnies, feeding redshirt junior
Ashwin Menon, who scored on a header. Menon followed 44 seconds later by placing a ball to sophomore midfielder
Miles Imparato, who buried the third goal for the Dukes at 59:15.
- Through six matches of the 2025 season, seven different players have scored a goal for Duquesne, while nine have registered on the scoresheet.

Diego Chavez leads the Atlantic 10 in shutouts (4), which is tied for sixth in NCAA Division I with 14 other student-athletes, including Jeremi Abbonel of Saint Louis. Chavez also ranks fourth in the A-10 in goals against average (0.50), third in save percentage (.857) and fifth in saves (18).
- As a team, Duquesne sits atop the Atlantic 10 in goal differential (+9) and shots per game (16.33), totals that rank 16th and 12th, respectively, in the country.

Hákon Dagur Matthíasson were
each honored with weekly accolades from the Atlantic 10 after their roles in a
1-0 victory at Syracuse (9/5), with Chavez, who made a season-high nine saves in the win over the Orange, being selected the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week (9/8), while Matthíasson, who scored the lone goal in the triumph, was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week (9/8).

Dakota Jonke paces the Dukes in scoring with seven points courtesy of three goals and an assist. Jonke ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in shots on goal per contest (1.33) while sitting third in shots per game (3.17).
- The Dukes are led by head coach
Chase Brooks, who is in his 13th season leading the program in 2025. Brooks has compiled an overall record of 92-87-29 (.512) at Duquesne and is the program's all-time leader in coaching victories. In his 15th year as a head coach overall, Brooks has posted a mark of 114-93-38 (.543).
- Duquesne established a new program record last season with 11 consecutive wins at Rooney Field as well as its eight victories at home in 2024. Despite a 3-0 setback to Fordham (11/9/24) in the Atlantic 10 Championship, the Dukes own a mark of 28-4-6 (.816) at Rooney Field since the beginning of the 2021 campaign.
Scouting the Red Flash – Located in Loretto, Pa. … Member of the Northeast Conference (NEC) … SFU has compiled a mark of 0-4-1 through its first five matches of the 2025 campaign and is coming off a 3-3 draw at Loyola (Md.) (9/9) … The Red Flash fell behind, 2-0, less than 15 minutes into the game against the Greyhounds in a first half that featured five goals … Jonah Wolf scored the only goal after halftime, netting the equalizer for Saint Francis at 80:12 … Wolf owns a goal and an assist this season to lead the Red Flash in scoring with three points … The 2025 season is the third for Mads Kaiser (Davis & Elkins '18) as head coach at SFU … Kaiser owns a record of 14-11-11 (.542) in his time leading Saint Francis … The all-time series between SFU and Duquesne is tied, 8-8-4 (.500) … In the last meeting between the two programs, the Dukes earned a
4-3 overtime victory at Rooney Field (8/31/21) … Former forward Zach Mowka (2020-23) scored the game winner at 94:03 to lift Duquesne to the victory.
So Fresh, So Clean – Duquesne continues a three-game homestand Wednesday against Saint Francis at Rooney Field having received production from up and down its lineup. Of the seven players that have scored a goal for the Dukes this year, four have collected their first NCAA Division I marker. The Helper – While seven different Dukes have scored a goal so far this season, senior midfielder
Grant McIntosh has been in the middle of the attack. He leads Duquesne in assists with three, including a secondary assist in the first goal of the match in a 3-1 victory over St. Bonaventure (9/14) that opened a three-game homestand at Rooney Field. McIntosh has appeared in 39 career games on the Bluff, including 38 starts, and has tallied six career assists.
Veteran Presence – Redshirt senior
Diego Chavez has been stout for the Dukes as the starting goalkeeper in the first six games of the 2025 season, registering four clean sheets while posting 18 saves. A transfer from Colorado Mesa, Chavez has started each of the last 42 games he's appeared in dating back to the beginning of the 2023 season and owns a career record of 23-16-9 (.573) during his NCAA career as a goalkeeper.
Instant Impact – In addition to collecting the first goal of the 2025 season for Duquesne, freshman midfielder
Hákon Dagur Matthíasson set up the second goal of the contest in a
3-0 win over Seton Hill (8/21) at Rooney Field. He fed redshirt junior
Jaxon Ervin, who sliced one into the net at 27:21 to give the Dukes a 2-0 cushion. Ervin is Duquesne's active career points leader with 15 points thanks to four goals and seven assists, and the Dukes are a perfect 4-0 when he scores in a game since the beginning of the 2024 campaign.
Power Pack – Duquesne's 1-0 win at Syracuse (9/5) helped the Dukes improve to 3-1-1 (.700) against teams from a power conference over the last four years. In 2022, Duquesne opened its season with a 1-0 victory at Michigan (8/25/22) out of the Big Ten. The following year as part of Fairfield Inn by Marriott Invitational, which was hosted by James Madison, the Dukes earned a 5-1 triumph over Virginia Tech (8/27/23) out of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Last season, Duquesne finished with a 1-1 tie at No. 23 Notre Dame (9/10/24), also out of the ACC, before its road win against the Orange.
Full Bore – A number of Dukes saw considerable action in their first game at Duquesne in the 2025 season opener against Seton Hill (8/21), none more so than freshman defender
Alex Posada. In his NCAA Division I debut, Posada was the only member of the Dukes to log a full 90 minutes. Posada is also the only field player through the first six games of the year to have seen action in all 540 minutes.
One – Since the beginning of the 2021 campaign, the Dukes own a record of 31-9 (.775) in one-goal matches after earning a 1-0 triumph at Syracuse (9/5). Included in that stretch is an 18-3 (.857) record in such games at Rooney Field and a 13-6 (.684) mark on the road.
