Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's soccer team took to the road for the first time during its 2026 season Sunday, ending a 1-1 tie with Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pa., at the North Athletic Complex. The Dukes remain undefeated on the year with a record of 2-0-2 (.750).
POINTS OF EMPHASIS
Duquesne wasted no time grabbing the lead against the Colonials, as junior
Marko Rasmussen was able to give the Dukes a 1-0 edge less than three minutes into the contest. Sophomore
Hákon Dagur Matthíasson lifted a ball into the box on the far side, with senior
Blaize Hardy jumping to provide a header. The ball soared to the left side of the box, and Rasmussen was in position to charge. He got to the ball just prior to it reaching the ground and fired a shot that got past goalkeeper Josh Lane to give Duquesne the lead at 2:27. It marked the third goal of the young season for Rasmussen, which leads the Dukes.
THE EQUALIZER
The Dukes held the one-goal advantage heading into the second half, but RMU was able to tie the contest at 52:53. Riley Cotton provided a perfect corner kick that found Nicholas Samways, who scored on a header to knot the contest, 1-1. It marked the first goal Duquesne has yielded during the 2026 campaign. It would prove to be the final score of the contest, with the Colonials finishing with a 12-9 advantage in shots, including 7-2 in shots on frame.

Despite allowing the game-tying goal in the second half, redshirt senior
Sam Coss finished with a career-high six saves … Coss owns an .857 save percentage and an 0.25 goals against average through the first four games of the 2026 season … Hardy, who missed Duquesne's win over Mount St. Mary's, and Matthíasson each returned to the starting lineup against RMU, with each registering on the scoresheet for the first time in 2026 … Eight different Dukes have scored a point through the first four games … Hardy joined sophomores
