Pittsburgh, Pa. – On the heels of the program's first appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship, which
begins Thursday on the Cypress Course of Evermore Resort in Orlando, Fla., freshman
Sasha Petrochko of the Duquesne University women's golf team collected her fifth A-10 Rookie of the Week accolade Wednesday.
Petrochko wrapped up the 2024-25 regular season by finishing fifth at the
YSU Spring Invitational in Warren, Ohio, at Avalon Lakes Golf Course last week. She opened play with a 75 (+3) before carding an even 72 in round two to close at 147 and finish just one stroke of earning a three-way tie for third place on the individual leaderboard.
Over the course of the tournament, Petrochko registered six birdies, including four in the second round, while also hitting par on 21 of the 36 holes. The 5,827-yard course saw Duquesne finish fourth out of eight teams, which also included a pair of Atlantic 10 foes in La Salle and Saint Joseph's.
During the 2024-25 campaign, Petrochko has led Duquesne with an average score of 75.4 strokes in 17 rounds. She has been even or better in four of those rounds and, in addition to being a five-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, also garnered A-10 Golfer of the Week after her performance at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational in September.
Led by head coach
Colleen Meyers, Duquesne opens play in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship Thursday in Orlando, Fla., at Evermore Resort. Play begins for the Dukes at 8:15 a.m., with the final player teeing off at 8:51 a.m. from hole No. 1. Teams and individuals will be reseeded after each round.
