BOSTON – Duquesne seniors
Mara Whalen and
Gina Bolla set personal records in the 800-meter and 3,000-meter finals, respectively, at the ECAC Indoor Championships on Sunday. Senior
Amy Allen also recorded a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters.
SUNDAY RECAP
Whalen, who had already set a personal record in Saturday's 800-meter preliminaries, placed fifth in the finals with a career-best time of 2:11.26 — more than two seconds faster than her previous best. Her time now ranks fourth in program history and contributed 4 points to Duquesne's team total of seven.
Bolla finished 12th in the 3,000-meter race, posting a personal-best 9:56.39 in her ECAC indoor debut. The Pittsburgh native previously set her best mark at Penn State this season and shaved more than four seconds off that time.
Allen closed out her indoor track career with a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter finals, earning 3 points for Duquesne. She clocked in at 55.36 seconds, just 0.05 seconds shy of her career-best, which ranks fourth in program history and was set at SPIRE earlier this year.
Duquesne finished with 7 points, tying for 26th place with Coppin State and Siena.
