BOSTON – Duquesne seniors
Amy Allen and
Mara Whalen qualified for the 400m and 800m finals, respectively, at the ECAC Indoor Championships in Boston on Saturday. Whalen and
Haley Hamilton each recorded personal records, with Hamilton competing in the mile.
Allen finished eighth in the 400m preliminaries with a time of 55.70 seconds. A three-time ECAC qualifier, she earned a silver medal in
last week's A-10 Indoor Championships in the 4x400m and finished fourth in the 400m. Allen competed in the 400m for the first time at the ECAC Championships on Saturday.
Whalen placed seventh in the 800m preliminaries, recording a personal-best time of 2:13.17. She had previously set a personal record of 2:13.25 with the top preliminary time at last weekend's A-10 Championships. Whalen went on to finish seventh in the A-10.
Senior
Haley Hamilton recorded a career-best time of 4:57.31 in the mile preliminaries, placing 11th and missing qualification for the finals by just 0.14 seconds. Hamilton's time is the fourth-fastest mile in Duquesne history, surpassing her previous personal record of 4:59.86, which ranked fifth in program history and was set at Ashland in February.
