Walcutt, a native of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, secured her first A-10 Indoor Championships medal with a personal-best score of 3,635, the fourth-highest in Duquesne history. She won the long jump with a mark of 5.54 meters (18-2.25) and placed second in both the shot put (11.40 meters / 37-5) and 800m (2:22.25).
Walcutt's silver gave DU 8 of its 13 team points. The distance medley relay team of Whalen, Allen, Seitzinger, and Hamilton placed fourth with an 11:44.24, adding 5 points.
Duquesne currently sits in eighth place, trailing sixth-place La Salle by 3 points and seventh-place Dayton by 2.
ADVANCING TO THE FINALS
Five Dukes qualified for the finals in their individual events, which are set for Saturday. Seniors
Hannah Seitzinger (1:13.32) and
Mara Whalen (2:13.25) recorded the fastest preliminary times of the meet in the 500-meter and 800-meter races, respectively.
Seitzinger is one of four A-10 competitors to win gold in the same event three times. With a victory in the 500m on Saturday, she would become the only athlete in conference history to win the same event four consecutive years. A win would also tie her with Bethany Evankovich and Haley Pisarick for the most indoor individual gold medals in Duquesne history (4).
Whalen's 2:13.25 was an indoor personal best in the 800m. She was one of five Dukes to record a personal best Friday and will compete for her first indoor medal Saturday.
Senior
Amy Allen placed third in the 400m with a 56.43-second finish. She entered the championships ranked second in the A-10 in the event, trailing only her teammate Seitzinger, who is competing only in the 500m individually this weekend. Allen, a four-time A-10 indoor medalist, will seek her first 400-meter medal Saturday.
Haley Hamilton advanced to the 1,000m finals with a sixth-place finish in the preliminaries. The senior from Pittsburgh posted a time of 2:54.54. Hamilton won bronze in the event at last year's A-10 Indoor Championships.
Sophomore
Anna Rorrer secured a spot in the 60-meter hurdles finals after placing sixth in the preliminaries. Rorrer, who ranked fifth in the event entering the championships, finished in 8.82 seconds, just 0.01 seconds shy of her personal best.
PR HIGHLIGHTS
Freshman
Nadia Constantakis tied her own program record in the pole vault, clearing 3.62 meters (11-10.5), a feat she first accomplished at Youngstown State.
Senior
Alyssa Willis improved her third-fastest time in program history in the 200 meters, finishing in 25.08 seconds. Her previous best was 25.11, set in 2023. Willis also tied her season high in the 60-meter dash, posting a 7.68 in her 10th-place finish.
Gina Bolla and
Maggie Danzer each set personal bests in the 5,000 meters, with Bolla finishing in 17:22.94 for 10th place and Danzer clocking 18:06.13.
