LAST TIME OUT

• Duquesne dropped its home opener, 11-10, against Robert Morris last Wednesday.
• The Dukes trailed by three in the third quarter but rallied to tie the game at 10 with 4:48 remaining. RMU scored the game-winner less than a minute later, and DU was unable to capitalize on several late chances, including two shots in the final 10 seconds.
• Mackenzie Leszczynski scored five goals and had two assists for a seven-point outing.
• Emily King and Chelsea Evans scored twice and Gracin Emerson added one goal ... Evans also had a career-high five caused turnovers.
• Six of Duquesne's 10 goals were from the free position, where DU was 6-for-9, while RMU was held to a 1-for-5 effort from the FP.
• Hanna Pawela moved up in the Duquesne record books, ranking third in career caused turnovers (118) and seventh in career ground balls (131).
• It was DU's first loss when scoring 10+ goals since 2023 (now 8-1 in last nine) and its first loss in a game decided by five or fewer goals since 2023 (now 7-1 since start of 2024).

SCOUTING YOUNGSTOWN STATE

• Youngstown State enters 1-1 in 2025, fresh off the first win under second-year head coach Rob Harris.
• The Penguins pulled away from Saint Francis on Sunday with a 10-2 second half for a 19-10 victory.
• The win was YSU's first since Apr. 22, 2023 (20-8 over Detroit Mercy) after an 0-16 season a year ago.
• The Penguins have the early lead in the MAC in multiple stat categories, including goals per game (16.0), shot percentage (50.8%), shots on goal per game (24.5), caused turnovers per game (13.0 – 10th in DI), draw controls per game (16.5), and free position percentage (.667 – 8th in DI).
• YSU is in its fifth season as a program, having debuted in 2021.

• Duquesne is sixth in Division I and leads the Atlantic 10 with a .975 clearing percentage ... DU was 18-for-18 on clears in the season opener at Akron.

• Chelsea Evans leads the A-10 and is 12th in Division I with 3.5 caused turnovers per game, while Hanna Pawela (2.5) and Emily King (2.0) rank third and fifth in the conference, respectively.
• Pawela also leads the A-10 in ground balls per game (4.0) – 16th in DI.
• Mackenzie Leszczynski is second in the A-10 in points per game (5.0), free position goals per game (1.5), and free position percentage (75%), while ranking third in goals per game (3.5).
• Gracin Emerson's 2.50 assists per game ranks second in the A-10 ... All five of her assists came in the season opener at Akron, tying for the third-most in a game in program history.

• Hanna Pawela and Mackenzie Leszczynski earned Atlantic 10 preseason all-conference honors ... Leszczynski has collected postseason accolades in each of her first three seasons, including A-10 All-Rookie honors and back-to-back second-team all-conference selections ... Pawela is a two-time A-10 All-Academic honoree.
