NOTHING BUT NYLON
- The Duquesne women's basketball team continues its five-game road swing, when it travels to Ypsilanti, Mich., to take on Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, Dec. 9 inside the George Gervin GameAbover Center.

- The Dukes opened Atlantic 10 play last Wednesday (Dec. 3), dropping a 72-55 setback at Davidson. For the fifth time this season, Duquesne featured three players finishing in double figures. Gabby Grantham-Medley paced the way with 14 points while collecting six rebounds and dishing out four assists. It's the sixth time she's reached double figures this season and the second time leading Duquesne in scoring.

- Reina Green and Harriet Ford each chipped in 10 points while Ford corralled a team-best seven rebounds while dishing out two assists. Green collected five rebounds while posting one assist and one block on Wednesday. It marks the sixth time Ford has registered 10 or more points while Green reaches double figures for the second time this season.

- Alexis Bordas finished with seven points, three rebounds, and two assists while Mackenzie Blackford ended with five points and three rebounds.

- Both teams came out shooting efficiently in the opening quarter as Duquesne jumped ahead 6-3 behind a jumper from freshman Alexis Bordas and a layup from sophomore Harriet Ford. Davidson quickly answered, stringing together 12 unanswered points while hitting 5-of-6 shots during the run.

- After a two-minute scoring drought, sophomore Mackenzie Blackford halted the skid with a three-pointer that ignited a 10-2 Duquesne surge to close the quarter. Blackford led the push with five points, helping the Dukes narrow the gap to 17-16 after one. Duquesne briefly regained control early in the second quarter with a layup from redshirt sophomore Gabby Grantham-Medley and another bucket from Ford, taking a three-point lead. Davidson countered with a 9-2 run to go back in front, 26-22.

- Bordas hit a three to stop the Wildcats' momentum, and consecutive layups from Grantham-Medley and Ford pushed Duquesne ahead 29-28 with just over three minutes remaining in the half. Later in the period, Kyra Bruyndoncx knocked down a triple, but a foul-line jumper from Grantham-Medley trimmed the deficit to one as Davidson carried a 34-33 lead into halftime.

Eastern Michigan Game Notes

The Series vs. Eastern Michigan – This will mark just the second-ever meeting between Duquesne and Eastern Michigan. The Eagles won the only previous matchup in 2007, a 79-77 double-overtime thriller. Keri Pryor led the Dukes with 21 points, while Kristi Little (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Amanda Peck (15 points, 11 rebounds) each posted double-doubles. Duquesne held a 10-point lead, 51-41, with under 12 minutes remaining in regulation before EMU responded with a 19-3 run to take a 60-54 lead at the 3:14 mark. The Dukes answered with a 6–0 run, tying the game at 60-60 behind four free throws from Little. Both teams had chances to win in regulation: EMU's Cassie Schrock missed a layup with three seconds left, and Pryor's buzzer-beater on the other end was off the mark, sending the game to overtime. The first overtime featured three ties and three lead changes. Little hit a jumper with 14 seconds remaining to tie it at 68-68, and a block by Jocelyn Chandler with one second left forced double overtime. In the second extra period, Colleen Russell's layup with 59 seconds remaining broke a 75-75 tie and gave EMU the lead for good. Duquesne cut the deficit to one on two occasions but couldn't complete the comeback, as Eastern Michigan escaped with the 79-77 road win.

Scouting The Eagles – A member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), Eastern Michigan enters Tuesday's matchup riding a three-game winning streak and holding a 5-3 record. The Eagles are coming off a dominant 96-44 victory over Defiance last Friday (Dec. 5). Eastern Michigan's attack is powered by two double-figure scorers, headlined by senior Sisi Eleko. She's averaging a double-double with 17.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while shooting 49.1 percent from the field. Eleko ranks seventh nationally with five double-doubles this season, and her scoring and rebounding averages both stand second in the MAC. Peyton Hill is the Eagles' other double-digit scorer, posting more than 14 points per game to go along with 4.0 rebounds. She also ranks second on the team with seven three-pointers and has collected seven steals on the year. Defensively, Eastern Michigan has been one of the MAC's best. The Eagles rank second in the league in scoring defense, allowing only 59.0 points per game, and they're holding opponents to just 23.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc, a mark that stands seventh in NCAA Division I.

Davidson Remains - The tables turned on Duquesne in the second half, as the Dukes struggled to find a groove and managed just eight field goals over the final 20 minutes. Davidson (6-3|1-0) opened the third quarter with a 10-4 run to stretch its lead to 44-38. A layup from freshman Raevin Washington briefly cut the deficit to four, but the Wildcats responded again, pushing their advantage to 51-41 with 1:43 left in the period. Grantham-Medley opened the fourth quarter with a layup to bring Duquesne within 51-45, but Davidson quickly took control, using a 14-4 surge to seize a commanding lead. The Wildcats continued to cause problems defensively, forcing 12 second-half turnovers and turning those miscues into 14 points. Duquesne's offensive struggles mounted throughout the half as it shot just 2-of-10 to start the third quarter and went 0-of-5 from three-point range over the final 20 minutes.

Snag That – Duquesne continues to limit opponents to just one shot per possession, thanks largely to its overwhelming dominance on the glass. The Dukes rank seventh nationally with more than 47 rebounds per game and sit second in Division I with over 18 offensive boards per contest. Their rebounding prowess has already produced six games with 40+ rebounds, including four with 50 or more, in which they've gone a perfect 4-0. Sophomore forward Harriet Ford has been the driving force behind that success. She's pulling down just under nine rebounds per game, placing her second in the Atlantic 10, and her 5.1 offensive rebounds per outing rank third in the nation. Ford has notched four double-doubles this season which are tied for the conference lead and 17th nationally, and has paced Duquesne on the boards six times. Redshirt sophomore Gabby Grantham-Medley has also been a key contributor, ranking second on the team with 5.7 rebounds per game. She has recorded at least five rebounds in three straight outings and five times overall this season, continuing to bolster Duquesne's interior presence.

Return With Purpose – After redshirting last season, redshirt sophomore guard Gabby Grantham-Medley has wasted no time making her presence felt. She ranks fourth on the team with 10.4 points per game while adding 5.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists, already delivering six double-figure scoring efforts and leading the Dukes in scoring twice. Her impact has only grown during Duquesne's current five-game road stretch. Through the first three games, the Maryland native is averaging 12.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and nearly two steals per contest. Just last week, she earned a spot on the Navy Classic All-Tournament Team, and she followed that performance with a 14-point outing in the A-10 opener at Davidson, shooting 6-of-15 from the floor while adding six rebounds and four assists. Grantham-Medley set the tone for her breakout campaign right away, recording her first career double-double in the season opener with 11 points and 11 boards in a win over Saint Francis.

Did You Know? - The Dukes enter Tuesday's contest having made at least one three-pointer in 436 consecutive games, a streak spanning 14 years. The last time Duquesne failed to connect from beyond the arc was on December 21, 2011, when the Dukes went 0-for-19 from long range against Florida in the championship game of the Gator Holiday Classic. Just last season, the NCAA Division I women's record for consecutive games with a made three-pointer was broken. Iowa State had previously held the mark with an astounding 945-game streak dating back to February 19, 1995, when the Cyclones competed in the Big Eight Conference. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga now owns the longest active streak in Division I women's basketball, with 814 straight games featuring a made three-pointer.

Weekly Award - For the second time this season, freshman guard Alexis Bordas was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week last week. The West Virginia native averaged 17.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, while draining 12 three-pointers across three contests in earning a spot on the Navy Classic All-Tournament Team. Bordas opened the week with 11 points, three assists, two steals, and three threes against Kent State. She followed with a 23-point performance against Liberty, shooting 7-of-14 from the field, hitting five triples, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the line, and adding two rebounds. She closed the week with 18 points, including four threes, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in Duquesne's overtime comeback win over Navy to wrap up the Navy Classic. Off to a standout start in her collegiate career, Bordas leads the Dukes with more than 14 points per game, ranking ninth in the Atlantic 10. She has knocked down 25 triples this season, sitting fourth in the A-10 while her 2.78 threes per game sits third in the conference. The rookie is shooting 35.2 percent from beyond the arc, good for eighth in the league, while her 20 steals rank seventh in the conference.
