Western Michigan Game Notes
The Series vs. Western Michigan – Come Sunday afternoon, it'll be the first ever meeting between the Dukes and Broncos. Western Michigan is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) as Duquesne holds a 41-27 overall mark against MAC opponents. The Dukes have won four of their last six contests against MAC opponents, including three of them coming on the road.
Scouting The Broncos – Western Michigan, a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), enters the season under the direction of first-year head coach Kate Achter. The Broncos were selected ninth in the MAC preseason poll and opened their 2025-26 campaign on Monday at Appalachian State, where they fell 65-45 in non-conference play. Senior De'Ahna Richardson led the team with 11 points, the only Bronco to reach double figures. On the defensive end, sophomore Kailey Starks pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while senior Alli Carlson set a career high with four steals. The Broncos begin the season with 10 healthy players on the roster. Among the group are four returners who saw action last year: Alli Harness, D'Myiah Bolds, De'Ahna Richardson, and Alli Carlson. Bolds appeared in 27 games and made one start, leading the team with 20 blocks. Richardson played in 18 games with two starts and averaged nearly 13 minutes per contest.
Slippery Rock Remains - Duquesne came out firing in the opening four minutes, knocking down six of its first 12 shots to build a quick 17-7 advantage. Sophomore guard
Mackenzie Blackford set the tone early with seven points, connecting on her first three attempts from the field. After the teams traded baskets over the next few possessions, the Dukes closed the quarter on a 9–2 run. Junior
Dunja Zecevic sparked the surge with four straight points, and following a jumper from The Rock, redshirt sophomore
Gabby Grantham-Medley drove for a layup before Blackford buried a long three to make it 32-15 after one. The Dukes stayed red-hot in the second quarter, erupting for a program-record 34 points in the frame. Duquesne shot an impressive 56.0 percent (14-of-25) from the floor and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from beyond the arc. A 16-5 run midway through the quarter helped them pull away, led by Grantham-Medley's five points and sophomore center
Maja Rohkohl's four. Duquesne capped the half on an 8-2 burst to take a commanding 66-32 lead into the locker room, the largest halftime margin under head coach
Dan Burt.
Built On Consistency – Duquesne continues to see production throughout its lineup through the first two contests, but a pair of sophomores have stood out early. Redshirt sophomore
Gabby Grantham-Medley and sophomore
Nadia Moore have paced the way for the Dukes on both ends of the floor. After appearing in her first game in more than 580 days on Monday and recording her first career double-double, Grantham-Medley followed up with a career-high 17 points to lead Duquesne on Thursday night. She's currently averaging 14.0 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 40.0 percent (12-of-30) from the field. She opened the season with a career-high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting (58.3 percent) before adding 13 points against Slippery Rock.
Fresh Impact On The Bluff – A pair of freshmen are making their presence felt early and often in their first few contests donning the red and blue.
Raevin Washington and
Alexis Bordas have both made immediate impacts, each averaging double figures to start their collegiate careers on the Bluff. Washington is averaging 12.5 points per game while shooting an efficient 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from the field, adding 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 block per outing. She opened her college career with 15 points and five rebounds, then followed with 10 points and six boards in her second game. She's averaging 11.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game, ranking third on the team with six total takeaways. Bordas has recorded back-to-back 11-point performances, including three made triples in Thursday's win over Slippery Rock.
International Flavor – Duquesne has long been known for bringing talented players from overseas, and the Dukes have added several more to the roster this season. Junior
Dunja Zecevic is one of six players averaging double figures, posting 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 62.5 percent (10-of-16) from the field. The Serbia native opened her Duquesne career with a career-high 16 points, adding five rebounds and a steal, and followed that performance with 12 points on 60 percent shooting, along with six rebounds and two steals. Sophomore

Did You Know? -Â The Dukes enter Sunday's contest at Western Michigan having made at least one three-pointer in 429 consecutive games, a streak spanning 14 years. The last time Duquesne failed to connect from beyond the arc was on December 21, 2011, when the Dukes went 0-for-19 from long range against Florida in the championship game of the Gator Holiday Classic. Just last season, the NCAA Division I women's record for consecutive games with a made three-pointer was broken. Iowa State had previously held the mark with an astounding 945-game streak dating back to February 19, 1995, when the Cyclones competed in the Big Eight Conference. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga now owns the longest active streak in Division I women's basketball, with 810 straight games featuring a made three-pointer.
