UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Duquesne University men's and women's cross country teams got a preview of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional course on Friday morning, competing in the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State.
RESULTS
WOMEN'S RECAP
Haley Hamilton led the Duquesne women for the 14th consecutive race she has competed in. The senior standout out of Pittsburgh turned in a 21:06.9 on the 6k course in 29th place out of 209 runners.
Junior
Gina Bolla (21:38.7 - 58th place), senior
Liv Wilson (22:14.9 - 98th place), freshman
Morgan Roemer (22:29.1 - 111th place) and senior
Addy Ciecierski (22:32.3 - 113th place) rounded out the DU scorers. Bolla's 21:38.7 was 6k career best in five races at that distance.
The Dukes finished 12th out of 17 with 320 points, two spots ahead of Saint Joseph's - the only other Atlantic 10 school in the meet. Penn State defended its home course with 42 points in first place.Â
MEN'S RECAP
Sophomore
Cameron Bogdan was first to finish for the DU men, tying for 94th out of 197 with a 26:32.5 on the 5.2 mile course.
Freshmen
Gio Mastromonaco (26:37.8) and
Ben Shields (26:38.4) finished back-to-back in 106th and 107th place. Senior
Casey Padgett ran a 26:42.2 in 111th and sophomore
Mason Stewart clocked a 27:04.8 in 138th to complete the scorers.
The Dukes totaled 471 points in 17th place out of 18. Syracuse won the meet with 31 points.

Duquesne completes a split-squad weekend tomorrow with runners at the
Robert Morris Invitational, then will be back in action on October 5 at the Live in Lou Classic, hosted by Louisville.
