PITTSBURGH -- The Duquesne University men's and women's cross country teams will feature a split-squad this weekend, competing at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday and the Robert Morris University Invitational on Saturday.

- The Dukes are back in action for the first time since dominating their season openers on August 31 at Saint Francis.
- Both the men's and women's teams won the SFU Father Bede Invitational ... The men outscored second place by 20 points with five in the top 10, while the women edged Bucknell by eight points to claim the top spot behind five finishers in the top 11.
- Senior Casey Padgett won the men's race with a 19:02.60, his first career meet victory, crossing the line more than four seconds ahead of the field.
- Haley Hamilton led the way for the DU women, posting a 14:27.80 in third place.
- The Duquesne success extended well beyond the scorers in the opening meet, as the men had 10 runners in the top 17 and the women placed 10 in the top 20 and 17 in the top half of the field of 82.
- The Penn State runners will get a preview of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional course, which will be at PSU in November.
ATLANTIC 10 PRESEASON POLL
- The Dukes were picked to finish sixth on the women's side and 12th on the men's side in the Atlantic 10 Conference Preseason Poll after a vote of the league's coaches. The full preseason rankings are available at Atlantic10.com: Men's • Women's.
