YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Duquesne University indoor track and field team racked up five first place finishes at the YSU Collegiate Invitational on Friday. Three of the five winners came in field events. Senior Sadie Wetzel won the high jump for the second straight meet with a new personal best, Ezra Johnson-Mills also set a new PR en route to a weight throw victory, and Madelyn Moretti claimed the top spot in the shot put. On the track, Liv Wilson was first to cross the line in the 800m and Addy Ciecierski won the 3000m race.

IN THE RECORD BOOK
Sadie Wetzel cleared 1.70m (5' 7") on her second attempt to etch her name into the all-time Duquesne top-five in the high jump and claim a second straight meet title to start the season. The Latrobe, Pa. native skied over 1.60m, 1.63m, and 1.66m in three of her first four jumps to set up the PR opportunity. Wetzel ties Sherie Key (2013) for fourth on the DU high jump leaderboard.

Ezra Johnson-Mills topped 29 opponents with a long weight throw of 17.40m (57' 1") on her third attempt, setting a new personal best and refreshing her name in the record books for second longest indoor weight throw in program history. A senior from Belle Vernon, Pa., Johnson-Mills had three throws eclipse 17m after entering the meet with a PR of 16.79m.

MORETTI ROLLS TO SHOT PUT VICTORY
Sophomore Madelyn Moretti recorded a 13.70m (44' 11.5") shot put on her penultimate throw to clinch her first meet victory of the season. Moretti led the meet from start to finish after posting a 13.51m (44' 4") mark on her first shot put before upping it to 13.70m on throw five of six.

WILSON LEADS DUKE-FILLED 800M
Liv Wilson narrowly edged out Lucy Singleton, of Morehead State, by 0.73 seconds to claim the top spot in the 800m race with a 2:17.35. Fellow Dukes Angela Valotta (2:23.03) and Cydney Blahovec (2:24.31) came in seventh and eighth in the race, while Reagan Ryen (2:25.75) was 11th. Duquesne claimed four of the top-11 spots, which included 47 runners, and was the only program to have multiple athletes in the top eight.

CIECIERSKI SHINES IN SEASON DEBUT
Coming off a 6k PR at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Cross Country Championships, Addy Ciecierski made her track and field season debut with a first-place finish in the 3000m race. The junior Cleveland Heights, Ohio product raced across the finish line in 10:24.05 to take the top spot in a 27-runner field.

NOTABLES

• First year Caroline Garbe won the unseeded portion of the high jump, clearing an early personal-best 1.62m (5' 3.75") ... Garbe also took eighth in the triple jump with a 10.15m (33' 3.75") and sophomore Capri DeCaro was right behind in ninth with a long of 10.08m (33' 1").
• Hannah Seitzinger was the runner-up in the 400m, which featured 45 runners, recording a 56.92, just 0.74 seconds behind the leader ... Kaylin Cousin finished 10th in the race with a 59.85.
• Alyssa Willis took third place in the 200m dash, posting a time of 25.50 ... The senior sprinter also qualified for the 60m finals with a 7.81, then finished sixth in the finals with a 7.85.
• Jamelah Carswell ran back-to-back 9.18's in the 60m hurdles finishing third in the event ... Carswell also finished third in the long jump with a 5.54m (18' 2.25") leap ... Freshman Anna Rorrer (9.25 - PR) and junior Anna Baxter (9.70) finished fifth and seventh, respectively.
• The 4x400m relay team of Mara Whalen, Haley Hamilton, Delaney Line, Liv Wilson crossed the line in 4:07.98, which placed third of 13 teams.
• Haley Hamilton set a new personal best in 4th place of the mile run, turning in a 5:05.25 ... Ryley Schwalm was 10th in the mile recording a 5:18.45.
• Rachel Koonmen was a top-10 finisher in both the shot put (4th - 12.62m / 41' 5") and weight throw (9th - 13.42m / 44' 0.5") ... Freshman Mia Pierce recorded a long of 11.60m (38' 0.75") to finish seventh in the shot put.

UP NEXT 
Duquesne will feature a split squad next weekend between the Penn State Nationals and Kent State's Doug Raymond Invitational.
