Duquesne will host Massachusetts on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. ET at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. Sunday will also be women's basketball's 50th Anniversary Celebration Game.

THE SERIES - vs. UMASS
  • The Dukes are 29-25 all-time against the Minutewomen.
  • Duquesne is 18-6 against UMass at home.
  • Duquesne is 6-4 in the last 10 matchups against UMass.
  • The Dukes are 25-22 against UMass when they have met in conference play.
  • The first matchup was in 1984.
SCOUTING UMASS
  • UMass is 16-4 overall and is on a five-game winning streak.
  • The Minutewomen beat VCU their last time out.
  • Last season, UMass won the A-10 Championship and lost to Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
  • Sam Breen is the team's leading scorer at 17.9 points per game and leading rebounder at 10.2 per game.
  • Sydney Taylor leads the team with 58 three-pointers made.
  • UMass was picked to win the conference this year.
  • Tory Verdi is in his 7th season leading the Minutewomen.

  • Duquesne lost to UMass 59-89 on Feb. 13, 2022.
  • Tess Myers hit six threes and scored 19 points.
  • Megan McConnell scored 12 and grabbed 10 rebounds.
  • UMass shot 50.7 percent from the field.
LAST TIME OUT
  • Duquesne came back from down 19 points to defeat Dayton on the road Wednesday. 
  • Tess Myers hit five three-pointers and led the team with 23 points.
  • Megan McConnell scored 16 points, had nine assists, grabbed six rebounds and snagged six steals.
  • Six players were in double digits for the Dukes.
STAT CHECK
  • Megan McConnell is one of two players in Division-I - men's or women's - to have two triple-doubles this year. Her 8.4 defensive rebounds per game rank fifth in the nation and her 9.9 rebounds per game rank third in the A-10. Her 52 steals are the 25th-most in the country and her 117 assists lead the A-10 and rank 14th nationally. 
  • Tess Myers ranks third in the nation in three pointers with 67 and fifth in three-pointers per game with 3.19. Her 90 total threes last season led the conference and ranked 14th in the nation. 
  • The Dukes rank second in the A-10 in rebounds per game (41.6, 30th in nation) and lead the A-10 in defensive rebounds per game (30.9, 11th in nation). Their field goal percentage defense (34.7%) ranks first in the conference and 11th nationally.
50TH ANNIVERSARY 
  • 2022-23 is Duquesne Women's Basketball's 50th season. 1972  was the first season.
  • In the past 50 years the program has put together an all-time record of 672-662 (.504),  a Division I record of 569-591 (.491) and an Atlantic 10 Record of 258-333 (.437).
  • The program has had 10 head coaches since its inception.
A-10 ELITE
  • Since taking over as head coach in 2013-14, Dan Burt has led the Dukes to 183 wins. Only Dayton (195) and Fordham (195) have amassed more wins during that span among A-10 teams.
  • The Dukes are also one of four Atlantic 10 programs to post a winning season in at least seven of the past nine seasons (Dayton, Fordham, & VCU). 
  • Coming into the season, Duquesne was also tied for the third-most A-10 wins (86) since Burt took over as head coach.
  • Since 2013-14, the Dukes have led the Atlantic 10 in scoring offense (2x), scoring margin, field goal percentage (2x), free throw percentage and assists per game (3x).
  • Duquesne has ranked at least fifth in the conference in points per game, field goal percentage and assists per game in all but one season since 2014-15. 
LOCK DOWN D
  • Duquesne ranks 11th in the country and first in the conference in field goal percentage defense, with opposing teams shooting just 34.7 percent against the Dukes.
  • The Dukes' scoring defense ranks eighth in the conference as opposing teams have scored just 62.8 points per game.
  • The Dukes held opponents to under 50 points five times last season and won eight games by double digits. They have won seven games by double-digits already this year.
  • Duquesne held an opponent to under 50 points just once during the previous 2020-21 season (George Mason) and did not win any games in 2020-21 by double digits.
  • This year, the Dukes have held three teams to under 50 points.
  • In the Jan. 11 win over St. Bonaventure, Duquesne held the Bonnies to 11 points at half, 21% shooting overall, and just 38 points total.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
  • Duquesne has 11 wins at home this season already, which is tied for the seventh-most in program history. The record is 13, set by the 2011-12 and 2012-13 teams. This year's team has five home games remaining.
  • Since taking over as head coach in the 2013-14 season, Dan Burt has led the Dukes to a 98-40 record in home games. 
  • Not including the shortened 2020-21 season (only five home games), the Dukes haven't had a losing record at home since 2006-07 and never have under Burt.
  • The Dukes went 8-7 at home last season in their first full season at the upgraded UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
  • Duquesne is 11-2 at home this season.
BEASTS ON THE BOARDS
  • Megan McConnell ranks third in the A-10 with 9.7 rebounds per game, which ranks 30th nationally. Her 8.3 defensive rebounds per game rank fifth in the nation. Her 204 total rebounds are the 15th-most nationally.
  • She led the team with 6.4 rebounds per game last season, which ranked 10th in the conference. 
  • McConnell hauled in at least five rebounds in 22 games last season. She has five or more in 20 out of 21 games so far this year, and has 12 games with double digit rebounds.
  • Precious Johnson ranks second on the team and 12th in the conference with 7.3 rebounds per game. 
  • Duquesne's 30.9 defensive rebounds per game rank 11th in the country. The Dukes' 41.6 rebounds per game rank second in the conference and rank 30th in the nation.
  • The Dukes secured a season-high 56 rebounds against St. Bonaventure on Jan. 11, 2022, the most since  Nov. 26, 2019 against Central Connecticut State (57).
RAINING TREYS
  • The Dukes rank 43rd in the nation and fifth in the A-10 with 7.9 three-pointers per game.
  • Tess Myers ranks fifth in the country with 3.19 threes per game.
  • Her 67 three-pointers also rank third in the country.
  • She already ranks 7th in Duquesne history with 182 threes and will move into 6th-place with 1 more.
  • Myers has made at least two threes in all but three games this season.
  • Duquesne has made 10 or more threes six different times this year, passing last year's total. 
  • This year's team has hit 12 or more thress four times already, three more times than last year's team.
  • The Dukes' 13 threes against Brown on Nov. 11,  while shooting 44.8%, which was the fourth-highest total in program history. 
  • Last year's team made 214 three-pointers, which is tied for the fifth-most in Duquesne history. This year's team has 166 right now.
OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER
  • Through 21 games, Duquesne ranks highly in the A-10 in scoring offense (69.0 ppg, 4th), scoring margin (+6.2, 6th) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.01, 4th). In the first game of the year, Duquesne put up 94 points and showed off the fast and furious offense that head coach Dan Burt has been talking about. 
  • The Dukes rank 43rd in the nation and fifth in the A-10 with 7.9 three-pointers per game.
  • The Dukes hit 90 points again against Siena, winning 92-73.
