PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne men's soccer team, off to a 6-0-1 start, has earned a spot in the
United Soccer Coaches Top 25 for the first time in 17 years.
DU is tied for 25th nationally with Louisville in the Sept. 20 poll which was announced today.
The Dukes, who were the first team in program history to start 5-0, have tied the school record for most games without a loss to open a season set in 2002 (5-0-2) and tied by current head coach
Chase Brooks' Dukes in 2019 (6-0-1).
DU, which handed Loyola Chicago its first defeat in Saturday's Atlantic 10 opener, is the first Duquesne team to be ranked since the 2005 A-10 regular season co-champions were ranked No. 24 in the Nov. 8, 2005 poll.
The 2022 Dukes, who are also ranked
No. 3 in the Southeast Region by the United Soccer Coaches, were among those also receiving votes in the previous two United Soccer Coaches polls.
Duquesne returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 when it takes on UMass in Amherst.
