PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University men's tennis team revealed its team awards, which included the naming of
Alex Mascioli as Team MVP.

Along with Mascioli,
Jin Dassanayake was selected as the winner of the Dukes Award,
Joey Matthews earned the Scholar-Athlete Award, while
Tamirlan Teberikov earned the Most Improved Player honor.

Mascioli was the team's winningest singles player this spring. He went 13-4 overall, 4-0 in conference play, and has won nine of his last 11 singles matches, including a straight-set 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 2 singles in the team's Atlantic 10 Championship First Round win over Fordham.

Dassanayake was named the winner of the Dukes Award. The Dukes Award is presented to the player who embodies what it means to be a Duquesne Tennis Player. They consistently show outstanding leadership, hard work, and dedication both on and off of the court. They are also a great teammate and supporter of everyone involved with our program. Dassanyake was 10-9 in dual play during the spring, including a 4-1 mark at No. 3 singles. Dassanayake was 11-7 in doubles competition with a 6-3 record when paired with
Kaipo Marshall at No. 2 doubles. He closed out the season going 3-2 playing with Matthews.

Matthews is in the Duquesne University Juris Doctor (J.D.) program for legal studies. The Scholar-Athlete award winner went 4-2 in singles play and 4-6 in doubles play. He notched a pair of points for the Dukes in their win over Fordham in the A-10 Championship First Round match.

Teberikov went 11-6 in singles play this season, including a win to put the Dukes on the board in their A-10 Quarterfinal loss to Saint Joseph's. He was 7-8 in doubles play, including a 5-4 mark when teamed up with
Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal at the No. 1 position.
