Erie, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's tennis team dropped a tightly contested 4-3 battle on Sunday afternoon at Mercyhurst, inside the Westwood Racquet Club. With the loss, the Dukes dropped to 5-7 overall this season.

 The Dukes opened the day with a strong showing in doubles play, claiming the opening point behind wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Enrique Lana and Aril Kayra Tuna teamed up for a 6-3 victory at the top spot, while Alfrendo Vogelaar and Pierce Manning matched that scoreline at No. 3 to give Duquesne early momentum.

In singles, the Dukes continued to compete at a high level, picking up wins at Nos. 3 and 4. Vogelaar delivered a decisive 6-1, 6-3 victory, while Austin Lai followed with a straight-set win of his own, 7-5, 6-2, to keep Duquesne in front.

However, Mercyhurst responded by taking four singles matches, including a pair of three-set battles at the top of the lineup. After splitting the first two sets at No. 2, Tuna pushed to the limit before dropping a narrow 7-5 decision in the third. The Lakers also secured wins at Nos. 1, 5, and 6 to clinch the match.
