PREVIEW: Women's Lacrosse vs. Penn State

The Duquesne lacrosse team returns home to Rooney Field to take on No. 25 Penn State Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m.

THE SERIES
The Nittany Lions have won all nine meetings with the Dukes dating back to 2012. Penn State has defeated Duquesne by double digit goal tallies in six of those contests.
 
SCOUTING THE DUKES
  • Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw leads the team with 12 points through three games. She was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week Tuesday evening.
  • The true freshman has scored nine goals, including a season-high four in the team's win over Youngstown State.
  • Tina St. Clair has posted eight goals for the Dukes. She matched Rodriguez-Shaw with a season-high four versus Youngstown State.
  • Sam King has also recorded eight goals for the Dukes. She found the back of the net a season-high four times versus Youngstown State. King ranks second on the team with nine points.
  • In addition to her four goals scored, she leads the team with five caused turnovers and has won 11 draw controls.
  • Alana Piano has been all over the field for the Dukes this season. She leads the team with 12 draw controls, six caused turnovers and nine ground balls. She has also chipped in six goals.
  • Mady Piersielak has started each of the past two games in net. She is 2-0 and has made 11 saves in those two wins.3
  • Corinne Desrosiers is in her fourth season at the helm of the Duquesne program.
  • The Dukes were picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
  • Duquesne is coming off of a 4-5 campaign in 2021.
SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
  • Penn State is ranked No. 25 in the IWLCA Top-25 poll. They were picked in the same spot for the preseason poll.
  • The Nittany Lions are coming off of a 12-8 loss at No. 19 Drexel last week.
  • Mary Muldoon led Penn State with three goals in the setback.
  • Kristin O'Neill was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, which is annually given to the most outstanding American college lacrosse men's and women's players.
  • Penn State Head Coach Missy Doherty is in her 10th season. She has a career-record of 199-123 over 17 seasons as a head coach.

Duquesne will travel to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to take on Bucknell in a non-conference game on Wednesday, March 2 around 5 p.m.
