The Duquesne lacrosse team returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 20 when it travels to Ohio to take on Kent State in a non-conference battle around 2 p.m.
The game was originally scheduled for Friday, Feb. 18, but due to unplayable conditions at Kent State, the game was moved to Sunday.
THE SERIES
The Dukes won the first-ever meeting between the two teams last season. Duquesne notched a 22-6 victory over the Golden Flashes on Rooney Field.
SCOUTING THE DUKES
- Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw leads the team with nine points through two games.
- The true freshman has scored six goals through two games, including four in the team's win over Youngstown State.
- Tina St. Clair has also posted six goals for the Dukes. She matched Rodriguez-Shaw with two goals versus Pitt and four against YSU.
- Alana Piano has been all over the field for the Dukes this season.
- In addition to her four goals scored, she leads the team with five caused turnovers and has won 11 draw controls.
- Sam King is tied for second on the team with six points (five goals, one assist).
- Both Rachel O'Toole and Mady Piersielak have seen action this season in net for the Dukes,
- O'Toole made seven saves in the loss to Pitt, while Piersielak made seven in the team's win over Youngstown State.
- Corinne Desrosiers is in her fourth season at the helm of the Duquesne program.
- The Dukes were picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
- Duquesne is coming off of a 4-5 campaign in 2021.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN FLASHES
- The Golden Flashes were picked to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll after going 5-10 overall last season.
- The program was established in 2019.
- The team returned a trio of All-MAC players including first-team selection Abby Jones and second teamer Madison Rapier.
- Also returning for Kent State is Jackie Wolford – the 2021 MAC Freshman of the Year.
- Kent State is playing for the second time this season after dropping their season-opener 11-10 to Butler this past Saturday.
- Kenzie Sklar led the Golden Flashes with six goals on nine shot attempts.
- Goalie Madison Flannigan made 13 saves in the setback.
