PITTSBURGH – Nine Dukes have earned a spot on Phil Steele's All-Northeast Conference Team released today.
The four players who were named all-conference by the league's coaches on Nov. 23: senior receiver Dwayne Menders Jr. (Miramar, Fla./Mater Academy Charter), junior linebacker
Todd Hill (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley), sophomore receiver
Abdul Janneh (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) and junior defensive back
Jeremiah Josephs (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) received the same honor from Phil Steele with Menders Jr. and Hill named First Team and Janneh and Josephs named Second Team - mirroring their All-NEC awards. The only difference was Menders also earning Second Team honors as an All Purpose Special Teams player.
DU also had five Third Team honorees including sophomore running back
Billy Lucas (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), and linemen junior
Vincent Lumia (Riviera Beach, Fla./Suncoast), sophomore
Michael Dorundo (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and graduate
Josh Zacher (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) all earning spots on the offensive side of the ball. Sophomore linebacker
Shane Stump (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) was named to the Third Team defense.
In all, 90 NEC players were honored in three teams of 30 with each team consisting of 12 offensive, 12 defensive and six special teams players.
