PITTSBURGH – Duquesne women's basketball head coach
Dan Burt announced a trio of staffing changes, with
Stasia King moving to video production manager and the addition of Karlee McBride as a graduate assistant coach and RJ Bell as a graduate-student manager.
Â
King, a Duquesne alumna and member of four-consecutive WNIT teams, returned to The Bluff prior to the 2020-21 season and served as a graduate assistant. She has been elevated to the role of video production manager on the coaching staff.
Â
"Stasia has earned the video production manager position through her hard work and basketball knowledge," Burt said. "We always believe in our Duquesne Family and it's great to watch Stasia grow into a fantastic young coach. We expect big things out of Stasia with this promotion."
Â
In addition, a pair of former college basketball players with Western Pennsylvania ties will join the staff. McBride is a 2017 graduate of Indiana University, where she was a two-year starter for the Hoosiers. She helped lead IU to its first NCAA Tournament victory in 33 years with a win over Georgia in 2016. Since graduating, McBride has served as a color analyst for the ACC Network and spent the past two years as an assistant athletic director with the North Hills School District in Pittsburgh.
Â
"Karlee is someone I've noticed for a long time, from her time as a player for Indiana to her work with the North Hills School District," said Burt. "Karlee brings a high degree of creativity, basketball IQ, and social media experience to our program. We are excited to have another former Western Pennsylvania high school product working with us."
Â
Bell, who is the son of assistant coach
Rick Bell, joins the staff after recently wrapping up his collegiate playing career at Geneva College. He played in all 65 games over his final three seasons with the Golden Tornadoes and helped lead the team to an appearance in the 2020 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Game.
Â
"RJ has been volunteering all summer with the program, and we are impressed with his knowledge on the court," Burt said. "It's obvious that RJ is the son of
Rick Bell, as RJ has a disciplined, mature approach to the game. His communication skills on and off the court are excellent and are going to allow RJ to be an outstanding coach for someone in the near future. We are very happy that RJ is with us."
