Virgin Named A-10 Defensive Player of Week

Allows just one goal in two matches last week

PITTSBURGH - Junior goalkeeper Megan Virgin (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) was named Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in DU's two matches last week.

The third-year LIU transfer opened the week with five saves in a 3-1 home win over Richmond and followed that with four saves in posting her first shutout of the season in a 0-0 2OT draw at Davidson.

The lone goal she allowed came in the 80th minute of the Richmond win.

Three of her four saves at Davidson came in the second half and overtime.

Virgin is the first Duquesne player to be recognized by the A-10 this season.

The Dukes (4-5-2, 2-2-1), currently in seventh place in a tight conference race, return to action on Sunday, Oct. 10 at George Mason (ESPN+).
