Pittsburgh, Pa. – In a vote of conference head coaches, senior forward Maya Matesa of the Duquesne University women's soccer team was named the 2025 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year Tuesday. In addition to becoming the first player in program history to garner the top offensive honor from the conference, Matesa also earned a spot on the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team as well as the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.

Joining Matesa on the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team from Duquesne are senior forward Brianna Moore and senior midfielder Mackenzie Muir. The trio are just the second in school history to each garner first team accolades in the same season, joining the 2017 group of midfielders Linnea Faccenda and Casey Aunkst and forward Katie O'Connor.

Putting forth the most dynamic offensive season in Duquesne history in 2025, Matesa, a native of Lebanon, Ohio, finished with 17 goals, five assists and 39 points, setting new program single-season standards for both goals and points. She also led the Dukes in shots (94) and shots on goal (45) and of her 17 goals, six were of the game-winning variety.

The performance in 2025 helped Matesa, a three-time Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week during the year, become the program's all-time leader in goals, finding the back of the net 29 times over the last four years. She also ranks second in the Duquesne career record book for shots (209) and points (69), trailing only former forward Audra Mathews in both categories, who played on the Bluff from 2004 to 2007 and collected 240 shots and 75 points. Matesa, who also concluded her career tied for second in program history in game-winning goals (9), earned a spot on the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team for owning a 3.44 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a marketing major.

Moore, a native of Palmerton, Pa., finished second for the Dukes in scoring in 2025 with 19 points courtesy of eight goals and three assists. She unleashed 82 shots, including 40 on target, and joined Matesa in the top five all-time in the career record book for scoring. Moore concluded her career ranked third in goals (22) as well as tied for fourth in points (51) with Faccenda.

Muir, a native of Avon, Ohio, completed arguably the most potent offensive trio for Duquesne in 2025 by scoring 13 points thanks to six goals and an assist. Three times during the season Muir scored on the penalty kick, and she also produced a pair of game-winning goals. In the program's career records, Muir ranks eighth in points (41) and fifth in assists (13). She also scored eight game-winning goals over the last four seasons, which is tied for third all-time for the Dukes with Faccenda and Faye Rasmussen (2004-07).

Matesa (69), named to the 2025 Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List, and Moore (51) are the top scoring duo in school history, having combined for 120 points since the beginning of the 2022 season. Adding Muir into the equation and the three standouts collected 161 points over the last four years, the highest total in school history for a trio.

Twice during the 2025 season the trio of Matesa, Moore and Muir each scored a goal in a game, with Duquesne winning both contests. Over the last four seasons, when Matesa found the back of the net the Dukes finished 17-1-1 (.921), when Moore collected a goal Duquesne posted a record of 15-1-3 (.868) and when Muir scored a goal the Dukes were 11-2-1 (.821).

Led by Jessica Giegucz, in her first year as head coach in 2025, Duquesne matched a program record for wins, finishing with an overall mark of 12-5-2 (.684), including 7-3 (.700) in the Atlantic 10. The Dukes finished third in the conference standings and hosted their first A-10 Championship game since 2017.
