Duquesne (4-6, 3-5), hits the road for its lone road trip in a span of six games when it heads to the Bronx, N.Y. to take on Fordham (1-7, 1-7) on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 6:00 p.m. (ESPN+). The is the second game of a home-and-home series between the two. DU took the first meeting, 48-45, in Pittsburgh on Jan. 9.

The Dukes (63.4 ppg.) and Rams (49.9 ppg.) began the week as the two lowest scoring teams in the Atlantic 10. DU's 48 points in the Jan. 9 game were its fewest ever in an Atlantic 10 win, and fewest in any win since  Dec. 4, 1972 (43-34 home victory over Steubenville).

Duquesne, which held Fordham to a 2-of-22 effort from the 3-point arc in the first matchup, leads the A-10 - and is ranked 10th nationally - in 3-point field goal percentage defense at .271. Fordham is fourth in the conference in scoring defense (65.0 ppg.), while Duquesne ranks seventh (65.6 ppg.).

Duquesne, which has won five of its past nine Atlantic 10 road games, is looking for its sixth consecutive win at Rose Hill Gym.

TRENDING
  • DU, who has held six A-10 foes under 70 points, began the week tied for 2nd in scoring defense in conference play at 64.0 ppg.
  • DU ranked 10th nationally in 3-point pct. defense (.271) thru Sunday's games.
  • The St. Bonaventure game marked the first time this season head coach Keith Dambrot used fewer than 10 players (nine saw action).
  • Fifth-year seniors Marcus Weathers, Michael Hughes & Tavian Dunn-Martin along with true freshmen Toby Okani & Chad Baker have started the past five games. Three other freshmen, Tyson Acuff, Andre Harris & Mike Bekelja - along with first-year grad transfer Ryan Murphy, who joined the team on Dec. 11, have also been part of Duquesne's rotation.
  • Michael Hughes averaged 15.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in posting back-to-back double-doubles last week (15-10 vs. URI & 15-2 vs. SBU). He is shooting .700 from the field in his past three games (21-of-30). Hughes is ranked 11th among active D-I players in career blocks (174) and 18th in blocks/g. (1.96) thru Sunday.
  • Hughes has emerged as one of the better passing big men in the A-10. The 6-8 center ranks second on the team with 16 assists in eight conference games.
  • The Dukes have won five of their past nine A-10 road games dating back to last year, including victories at Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure & VCU.
  • Duquesne hasn't played a game on campus since Mar. 9, 2019 (vs. Dayton). The Dukes have had to board a bus for 34 of their past 40 games (including "home" games) dating back to last season.
  • Tavian Dunn-Martin moved into the 9th spot on Duquesne's career 3-pointers list with three vs. URI (138 career at DU). He needs two to pass No. 8 Courtney Wallace (140).
  • Freshman Chad Baker was named Jan. 25 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after averaging 11.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in DU's games against Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure last week. Baker, the first Duke to be honored by the A-10 this season, scored a game-high 19 points (5-of-5 from 3-point) to help the Dukes rally from 15 points down in the second half of the win over Rhody.

DUKES AND RAMS

THREE GRAND?
In a normal, roughly 30-game season, Duquesne would have had an excellent chance to finish 2020-21 with three 1,000-point scorers. Only once in school history has DU had three players with 1,000 or more points on the floor at the same time (late in 1997-98 with Kevin Price, Mike James & Nick Bosnic). Here are the current career point totals for DU's top scorers:

1,180 -- Marcus Weathers
   813 -- Tavian Dunn-Martin
   767 -- Michael Hughes

• Weathers scored 310 points at Miami, Ohio, Dunn-Martin scored 145 points at Akron and Hughes scored 35 points at Akron. All three are in their third season at Duquesne.
