Pittsburgh, Pa. – Former Duquesne University forward Alex Williams has signed a contract to continue his basketball career with the Giessen 46ers of The ProA in Germany.
Williams, a native of Dayton, Ohio, spent two seasons on the Bluff, rehabbing from injury his first year after transferring from Furman before playing in 31 games for the Dukes last season, including one start. He provided averages of 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 44 percent (88-for-200) from the field, including 39.6 percent (42-for-106) from beyond the arc, and 81 percent (68-for-84) at the free-throw line.
In his lone start of the 2025-26 campaign, Williams helped lead Duquesne to a 71-65 road victory over George Mason (2/4/26) by pouring in a season-high 25 points while also registering four rebounds and a pair of steals. Against the Patriots, Williams shot 7-of-12 from the floor, including 2-for-5 from deep, and 9-for-10 at the free-throw line.

The performance against George Mason was a springboard for the rest of the year for Williams, who reached double figures in seven of his final 11 games at Duquesne. He scored a game-high 22 points in the final home game of the 2025-26 campaign, a 79-77 win over Richmond (3/7/26) as part of the Chuck Cooper Classic as the Dukes became the fourth program in NCAA Division I history to erase a deficit of 30 or more points.
In the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship, Williams averaged 21 points in two games while knocking down 50 percent (15-for-30) of his shots from the floor. He paced Duquesne in the first round of the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship, a 67-61 triumph over Rhode Island (3/12/26) with 22 points while also matching a season high with eight rebounds. In the quarterfinals against VCU (3/13/26), Williams again grabbed eight rebounds while leading the Dukes with 20 points.
In four seasons at the NCAA Division I level, including three at Furman prior to transferring to Duquesne, Williams appeared in 99 career games, including 18 starts. He produced career averages of 8.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while converting 44.3 percent (286-for-646) of his attempts from the field, including 39.2 percent (143-for-365) from beyond the arc.
The Giessen 46ers were founded in 1937 and have won the German Championship five times (1965, 1967, 1968, 1975, 1978) and also have won the German Cup on three occasions (1969, 1973, 1979).
