PITTSBURGH - Duquesne, competing in its lone event in Pittsburgh, swept to a pair of wins over the weekend at the American Heartland Conference IV & V USBC event at AMF Mt. Lebanon Lanes.
The Dukes posted a total pinfall of 7041 (951.49) - 192 pins more than second place Wright State - in placing first of 15 teams in Saturday's event which featured five traditional games followed by three baker games.
Freshman
Kiearra Saldi (204.80), junior
Allison Hresko (195.20), sophomore
Jessica Cadez (192.00) and junior
Olivia Farwell (191.40) placed second through fifth in total pinfall with Saldi's 245 in game two standing as the top individual game by a Duke on the afternoon. DU posted the top team total of the day in game two (1061) with Hresko (216), Farwell (212) and Cadez (204) all joining Saldi over the 200-pin mark.
Duquesne totaled 6720 pins (933.33) in Sunday's four traditional/four baker game format in finishing at the head of a 14-team field. The Dukes posted a team weekend-high 1072 in its third traditional match of the afternoon. DU rolled between 706 and 768 in its four baker matches.
Farwell posted the high pin count (828) and average (207.00) on Sunday. Senior
Megan Cook averaged 206.33 in three games. Saldi finished sight in pinfall with 743 (185.75), while sophomore
Jessica Sacks was 12th in total pins with 730 (182.50) and Hresko finished 14th with 723 pins (180.75).
The Dukes, currently ranked #10 in the NTCA Top 25, return to NCAA play on Feb. 14 at the James Brown Invitational at AMF Towson Lanes in Towson, Md.
