Baker, Scott garner honors after performances in New Orleans

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University bowling team picked up a sweep of the Northeast Conference (NEC) weekly awards Tuesday, as junior Maribeth Baker was named the NEC Bowler of the Week, while freshman Jazmyn Scott collected NEC Rookie of the Week. The pair were honored for their respective performances in the final competition of the 2025 fall season last weekend in Harahan, La., at the Colonial Lanes Classic, hosted by Tulane.

Baker, a native of York, Pa., finished second individually during traditional play, averaging 223.80 in five games and collecting a total of 1,119 pins. She trailed only Mia Stolakis of Tulane, who finished with 1,182 pins. In a victory over No. 7 North Carolina A&T, Baker rolled a 247, her best score of the day. She also added a 233 against No. 6 Arkansas State and a 228 in a win over Florida A&M.

At the Colonial Lanes Classic, Baker produced season highs in average frame (22.38), average first ball (9.14) and overall fill percentage (94%) during traditional play while closing with an average frame of 20.05 and an overall fill percentage of 80 percent during Baker competition.

Through the fall campaign for Duquesne, Baker has completed 506 frames with an average of 20.16 while also owning an average of 9.00 on her first ball to go along with an overall fill percentage of 82.1 percent. She has also collected a strike on 52.7 percent (268-of-509) of her attempts this year.

Scott, a native of Urbana, Ohio, put forth the best tournament of her young career at the Colonial Lanes Classic, averaging 19.46 per frame in traditional and 19.11 in Baker play. In collecting her first weekly honor, Scott's fill percentage of 92 percent in traditional action was almost 10 points better than her previous best. She also wrapped up with an overall fill percentage of 82.5 percent during Baker competition.

Overall this year, Scott has completed 448 frames and owns an average of 18.19 to go along with an 8.73 on her first ball as well as a 79.8 overall fill percentage. She has been successful on 37.6 percent (169-of-450) of her strike attempts as well as 77.1 percent (185-of-240) of her makeable spares.

In addition to the weekly honors for Baker and Scott, the pair were also named NEC Prime Performers and were joined by junior Ivanna Fraticelli. At the Colonial Lanes Classic, Fraticelli, a native of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, finished 16th individually in traditional action thanks to 1,034 total pins and an average score of 206.80. She also produced a season-high in average frame score in traditional (20.68) play while posting a 19.22 in Baker competition.

Led by head coach Jody Fetterhoff, the Dukes wrapped up the fall season with an overall record of 27-23 (.540), including a mark of 7-5 (.583) in the NEC. Over half of the matches for Duquesne this fall came against ranked foes at 56 percent (28-of-50). The Dukes return to action with the Northeast Classic, which is set for Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, through Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, in New Castle, Del., at Bowlerama in an event hosted by Sacred Heart.
