Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University bowling team returned to action this weekend with NEC #1 in Mount Joy, Pa., finishing with a record of 7-5 over the course of three days of action to finish in a tie for third with Mercyhurst. The Dukes have compiled an overall record of 20-17 (.541) during the 2025-26 campaign.
SWITCH OPENS
NEC #1 featured traditional play first Friday, with Duquesne closing with a 2-2 mark on the opening day of action. Dropping a 1,027-1,007 decision to Monmouth in the first match, the Dukes responded with a 996-798 victory over LIU. No. 25 Niagara would defeat Duquesne in the third match of the day, 1,037-907, before the Dukes were able to close out a 987-649 victory over Wagner. The first two matches of play Saturday finished traditional play, with Duquesne earning a 967-933 triumph over No. 17 FDU before defeating Mercyhurst, 943-908.
BAKER ROLLS
Junior
Maribeth Baker took home the top spot for the Dukes individually in traditional play, finishing fifth individually to garner all-tournament team accolades. Over the course of six games, Baker collected 1,282 pins, an average score of 213.67. She finished just a pin shy of fourth place and five pins shy of third, with Morgan Davis of Monmouth finishing a pin ahead and Emily Brock of Niagara closing at 1,287. Baker was firing on all cylinders in the victory over LIU, unleashing a career-high 288. The score ranks second all-time in the 10-year history of Duquesne bowling in a traditional game, trailing only the perfect 300 Olivia Farwell posted as a freshman against Medaille at the Kutztown Invitational Jan. 20, 2018. The performance against LIU was one of three games in which Baker eclipsed 200, including a 236 in the victory over the Seahawks and a 210 in the opener against Monmouth.
CROSSOVER
The games switched to Baker action midway through competition Saturday, with the Dukes opening with a nine-pin victory over the Sharks, 959-950, before dropping a 1,032-950 decision to the Hawks. Wrapping up play Sunday, Duquesne finished 2-2, defeating Wagner, 1,027-611, and Mercyhurst, 1,043-986, but falling to the Purple Eagles, 1,097-934 and the Knights by a total of six pins, 932-926. An evenly distributed conference field, Monmouth took home the top spot with a 9-3 mark, while Niagara finished 8-4 despite owning the highest pin total (12,142), averaging 202.4 per game.

Jazmyn Scott subbed in for Clark in the third game against LIU and held the spot in the lineup for the rest of Baker competition. The top game for Duquesne in Baker play came in game four in the win over Wagner, as the Dukes fired a 248, just two games after posting a 229 in the same match.
STRIKES & SPARES
Also garnering a top 10 finish for Duquesne during traditional play was Siekierski, who finished 10th with a total pinfall of 1,170, an average score of 195. She eclipsed 200 in four of her six games, including a 210 against Wagner … Fraticelli opened traditional play with a 226, which matched a career high she originally set as a freshman against No. 5 Stephen F. Austin in October of 2023 at the Sunshine State Classic … Fraticelli closed 15th individually with 1,134 pins in traditional play, an average of 189 … Duquesne closed the tournament fourth in total pins at 11,646, an average score of 194.1 … Scott closed NEC #1 with a total pinfall of 1,100, an average of 183.33, to finish 19th.
UP NEXT
Duquesne returns to action by traveling to Harahan, La., to take part in the Colonial Lanes Classic, which is hosted by Tulane. The final fall competition of 2025 opens Friday, Nov. 21, at Colonial Lanes and concludes Sunday, Nov. 23.
