PITTSBURGH – On Tuesday, Duquesne University Director of Tennis
Vanessa Steiner announced that
Hunter Callahan has been promoted to Associate Head Coach. Callahan had previously served as an assistant coach for the Dukes' women's team.
"We are very happy to announce that
Hunter Callahan will be promoted to Associate Head Coach," said Steiner. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program on a daily basis. He has shown his growth and commitment to the Duquesne Tennis program over the last two years. We are excited for him to continue to help our team reach the next level and strive for excellence as a part of the rising Duquesne Athletic community"
Callahan, who graduated from Ohio State in 2015, joined the Dukes in 2018. Callahan helped guide the Duquesne women to a 15-7 record in the spring a season ago, as the Dukes advanced to the quarterfinal round of the A-10 Championships. The Dukes entered postseason action with a seven-match winning streak.
"I would like to thank Vanessa and Duquesne for the opportunity to be the Associate Head coach," said Callahan. "College tennis is a passion of mine and I am very fortunate to be able live that out at Duquesne. The last year and a half being the Women's Assistant Coach has been nothing short of amazing, and I'm excited to work with another group of great student-athletes. I am looking forward to building on the hard work that was achieved during the fall season and having a great spring season."
Both the men's and women's tennis teams open the season at Alpha Tennis and Fitness against Mount St. Mary's on Jan. 25.
