Box Score PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne women's tennis team began its fall season this past weekend, battling local foe Carnegie Mellon at the CMU Invitational. Overall, the Dukes won 14 of 25 singles matches and six of 11 doubles matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Miranda Bishard went unscathed in singles play, sweeping Courtney Olli, while also defeating Ola Wojciak and Alex Iordache. She turned in a mark of 5-1 overall, earning a pair of doubles wins.
• Meredith Lee also earned five wins in the invitational, posting victories over Lindy Cornwall, Madeline Fidel and Victoria Chang. The native of Pottstown, Pa. also earned a pair of doubles wins, one with Bishard and another with Priyanka Mitta.
• In her collegiate debut with Duquesne, Daniela Latoni posted a 3-1 record in singles play, earning victories over Wojciak, Bin Zheng and Elizabeth Schulz.
• Natasha Novak earned a total of two wins on the weekend in her first meet as a Duke, defeating Vinaya Rao and Victoria Change in singles play.
• Laurel Shymansky earned two victories in doubles play; one with Novak and another with Margot Pessy.
• In her lone singles match, Aishwarya Kona defeated Vinaya Rao. 
• The Dukes will be back in action on October 11th at the Toledo Invite.
