Box Score PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne men's tennis team began fall competition this past weekend at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational against Saint Francis and CMU. The matches began Friday, and continued on Sunday after weather forced Saturday's matches to be postponed.
Overall, Duquesne won 19 of 36 matches it competed in, including 10 of 12 doubles matches.
Jared Isaacs led the Dukes with a 5-1 record on the weekend, going 2-1 in singles play, while posting three victories without a defeat in doubles. In singles play, he took victories against CMU's Joshua Pinckney and Matthew Poh
Freshmen
Jin Dassanayake and
Nicolas Doria Medina both went a perfect 3-0 in doubles play, posting victories with three different partners each. Dassanayake earned a singles win over CMU's Poh, while Doria Medina defeated CMU's Raahil Doshi.
Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal posted a 4-2 record on the weekend, also finishing doubles play unscathed, while defeating Edward Chen of CMU in singles play.
Alex Mascioli picked up a pair of singles wins against CMU's Ray Boppana and Leo Wang, while teaming up with Isaacs and
Dominic Lea for two victories in doubles play.
Lea earned a total of three victories, with a singles victory coming against CMU's Jonathan Nottingham.
Joey Matthews posted two victories in total, with two doubles wins and a singles victory over Nottingham.
Graham Conron earned two doubles wins, pairing up with Dassanayake and Medina for the triumphs.
Duquesne returns to action on Oct. 17, when select Dukes will make the trek to Charlottesville, Va. for the ITA Atlantic Regionals.
