PITTSBURGH – Nonconference matches against Power 5 schools West Virginia and North Carolina State highlight the 2019 Duquesne women's soccer schedule released today.
The Dukes, who are in their eighth year under head coach
Al Alvine, open on Friday, August 23 against Big 12 champion West Virginia in Morgantown, W.Va. The Mountaineers finished 15-4-4 in advancing the NCAA Championship second round last season.
DU returns to Pittsburgh to face Loyola Marymount in the home opener on Sunday, Aug. 25 at noon.
Games at Appalachian State (Aug. 30) and at home vs. Lehigh (Sept. 1) precede a trip to Raleigh, N.C. to face NC State of the Atlantic Coast Conference on Sept. 8.
Duquesne concludes nonconference play at home versus Youngstown State on Sept. 15.
DU opens its 10-match Atlantic 10 Conference schedule on Sept. 22 at home vs. VCU. Additional A-10 home opponents include Richmond (Oct. 3), George Mason (Oct. 6), Massachusetts (Oct. 20) and St. Bonaventure (Oct. 24).
The Dukes will face Davidson (Sept. 26), La Salle (Sept. 29), Saint Joseph's (Oct. 13), Dayton (Oct. 17) and Rhode Island (Oct. 27) on the road in league play.
The top eight regular-season finishers will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship with opening round games at the sites of the top four finishers on Nov. 3-4. The championship will conclude with semifinal and final games at Saint Louis University's Robert R. Hermann Stadium on Nov. 8 & 10.

2019 SCHEDULE QUICK NOTES
- Duquesne will play eight matches at home and eight on the road. Two of the home games will start at 7:00 p.m., with the others all set for afternoon starts. The Dukes will have six Sunday home matches. Admission to all Duquesne home matches is free.
- DU will face members of six different conferences in non-league play: North Carolina State (Atlantic Coast), West Virginia (Big 12), Appalachian State (Sun Belt), Lehigh (Patriot), Loyola Marymount (West Coast) and Youngstown State (Horizon).
- Duquesne will face four first-time opponents in Appalachian State, Lehigh, Loyola Marymount and NC State.
- The 14-team Atlantic 10 will maintain a 10-game schedule. The top eight teams will qualify for the Atlantic 10 Championship which will conclude at Saint Louis' Robert R. Hermann Stadium November 8 & 10.
