YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Duquesne women's track and field team began the 2019-20 indoor season on Friday at the Youngstown State Icebreaker meet at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
Bethany Evankovich led the Dukes with a school and facility record-breaking performance in the 400-meter dash with a first-place time of 54.27. Evankovich bested the facility record of 54.86 set by Amber Davis in 2013 and topped her own school record of 54.48 set in 2018. Her time also represented the top mark in the NCAA on the first day of the indoor season.
Evankovich was also part of the Dukes' 4x400-meter relay with
Maiah Yankello,
Kel-Lisa Sebwe and
Gabby Holmberg which paced the field with a mark of 3:47.21.
Yankello added a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.12 followed by
Laura Ehrenberger third at 2:18.83.
Amberly Valeriano recorded a fourth-place performance in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 9.01 seconds while
Ally Christy finished fifth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:34.61.
Maris Seto led Duquesne on the field side with a fourth-place showing in the high jump at 1.64 meters followed by
Emily Brozeski placing fifth with a mark of 1.61 meters.
