PITTSBURGH – After nine days off of game competition for the holidays, the Duquesne women's basketball team closes out the calendar year and non-conference slate on the road on Monday afternoon when the Dukes (10-2) battle Oklahoma State (8-3). The opening tip at Gallagher-Iba Arena is set for 2:00 p.m. eastern standard time.
HOW TO FOLLOW: The non-conference finale will be broadcasted on Big 12 Now on ESPN+
THE SERIES: The meeting is the first between the two schools. Overall, the Dukes are 2-7 against the Big 12 in program history, posting wins over Kansas in 2011 and West Virginia in 2012.
LAST TIME OUT: On Dec. 20, the Duquesne faced a 10-point deficit for the second consecutive game in the fourth quarter and found a way to win, as the Dukes downed Kennesaw State, 75-72, at La Roche University. Duquesne outscored the Owls, 27-14, in the fourth quarter to pick up the victory. Amanda Kalin posted half of her team-leading 18 points in the fourth quarter, helping spark the scoring surge for the Dukes. Defensively, Duquesne gained extra possessions by forcing eight turnovers in the quarter, while the offense clicked with eight assists on nine field goals made.
THE STREAK: Duquesne seeks its 11th consecutive win on Monday, after the Dukes started the season 0-2. BEST IN THE NATION: Bazelak's 51.9 percentage stands alone as the nation's leader in 3-point field goal percentage, as the junior has drained 27-of-52 attempts from beyond the arc.
REIGNING A10 POW: In Duquesne's latest contest against Kennesaw State, Bazelak did it all, as the Kettering, Ohio native was recognized as the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week after recording 16 points (4-5 FG, 2-2 3-PT FG, 6-6 FT) eight rebounds, two assists and four steals. The honor was the second of year for the Dukes, as Amanda Kalin was tabbed the conference's player of the week earlier this season.
ROAD WARRIORS:Â Duquesne's six road wins this season are among the most in Division I, as the Dukes are tied with UConn (6-0) and Loyola Chicago (6-0) for the second most this season. Only Cleveland State (7-1) has more wins on the road this season. The Dukes have not played a game on campus this season, with the renovations to the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse underway.
